a couple of months ago, i bought a computer from best buy off the floor. when i turn it on, the best buy program that gives you information about the computer, details, etc. comes up. it still has all of the bestbuy programs and i think one of them deletes all of the new files that are installed in the computer when it is turned off. i tried deleting anything that was related to best buy, but everytime i would turn off my computer it still deleted my files (i installed aim and that was gone, along with pictures and mozilla). does anyone know the name of the file which i should be deleting to stop my computer from deleting everything?

what you want to do is a complete system restore, it will restore the computer to factory condition. get a external hard drive and save any thing you dont want to loose on the external hard drive .. it shoul have restore disk's with it or a way to make them, or somecomputers have a built in system restore featuer, or you can call the support line for the computer company and they will walk you thru it.. its always best to wipe the hard drive and reinstall all the programs when you get a used of floor model computer, that may be more than just the best buy program screwing it up. something else that has been installed may be messing it up or some one in the store messed with something they shouldent have.. but if you do that it should fix all of the problems.. if not take the computer back... or take it to best buy and have them do a complete system restore on it.. but make sure you get any thing you dont want to loose saved first.

if it still has all that best buy crap on it then i would return it to the store and have them remove it. they should have done it before you brought it home in the first place.
when you download a program either from a disk or from the Internet, in most cases it gets stored in your temporary memory or ram memory. when you turn off your computer the ram memory loses everything that was on it. for you to transfer it to your hard drive, instead of shutting down your computer, you need to restart it. restarting the computer without shutting it off will not kill the power and anything on your ram memory will stay intact. then while the computer is rebooting from the start up, will take whats on the ram memory and transfer it permanently to your hard drive where it will stay until if ever you delete it.

Check if Deep Freeze is installed. It is a software that does exactly what you mentioned and uninstall it if you want but you could reconfigure it so that you can set what folders are going to be monitored for restoration

I believe David. It easily sounds like DeepFreeze. It ought to've been put in on your notebook without your know-how. to envision in case you have Deep Freeze, press Crtl-Alt-Shift-F6. If Deep Freeze is put in, you should be waiting to work out a password communique. If no longer, that's something else. besides, in case you pick to disable it, if somebody else put in it there, ask for the password. yet whilst there is not any made yet, you should be waiting to click ok on the password communique container without stepping into something. After that, you spot a communique container with boot recommendations. opt for "Boot thawed" and click ok. this could disable Deep Freeze on the subsequent reboot. in case you pick to uninstall (i.e. in case you discover Deep Freeze is there by ability of pressing Crtl-Alt-Shift-F6), in basic terms locate the setting up report. by ability of default, that's: "DFStd.exe" (e.g. DF5Std.exe or DF6Std.exe). Run the setting up report and click the alternative "Uninstall". software must be uninstalled once you reboot your notebook.

Contact Bestbuy, you probably need them to take off their software.
