Its good to define sin.
Sin is not some action.
Sin is a state, a condition ...into which all of us are born.
This sinful state exercises an influence on us that pushes us to do unacceptable things.
Since God is pure and righteous, this sliding into wrondoing is foreign to Him.
He does not accept it.
Anything sinful, in His eyes, must be done away with.
Just like you brush away a fly .....because it doesn't have a place in your life.
Thankfully, He has set up an arrangement whereby we can be looked upon as acceptable, despite our sorry state.

For detterant. It is foolish to feed a killer of innocent peson for life and burden entire society with the expenses of keeping him alive. This system encourages murders and punishes the entire society, who had nothing to do with it by taxing them to feed a killer.

How can you see it is justifiable. They say death penalty makes society murderer. No death penalty saves society from more murders.
