hi i need help on working with a Nikon D40 DSLR camera.

1) i need to shoot 36 images exploring depth of field control. I must shoot a series of the same object. One image for every full f-stop on my lens. f/4, f/5.6 etc HOW DO I DO THAT?? where is it on the camera?

i then need to note the exposure for each image...because i need to to present it in class...now what is exposure in each image??

2) Then i need to shoot 36 images on Shutter Speed Control. 1/250, 1/125...etc. Probaly on things that have movemnt..Now where do i find the Shutter speed button on the camera??

THANKS

Set the mode dial to "M"

Rotate the command dial to adjust shutter speed.

Press the "aperture" button and rotate the command dial to adjust your f/ stops.

If you're not sure where or what these dials and buttons are, go the the Nikon web site and look at the user's manual.

Clich on Digital Tech Support and then scroll down to the D40.

When all else fails, READ your Owner's Manual. It wasn't packed in the box as filler, it was put in there so you can learn to use your camera. This requires effort on your part. You must read and study about your camera just as you would math or history or chemistry.

1) This site ( http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/depth-of-field.htm ) is helpful on depth of field. Google image ( http://images.google.com/images?client=safari&rls=en&q=depth+of+field&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi ) is a great source for getting ideas. Check it out.

2) Regarding shutter speeds this site ( http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/fototech/apershutter/shutter.htm ) give a good explanation. It also gives a few example photos that might help you.
