I have had my eye sight checked before, I have 20/10 in my right and 20/30 in my left eye. I have never like reading because when I do for any period of time my eyes hurt. I am in college now and have to read a lot. Does anyone know why my eyes do that?

Yes.
It may not be much, or be important,
or require any treatment or intervention,
but it is not normal to have that much difference between the two eyes. And reading fatigue isn't a good sign.

You need a normal but full examination.
I don't know what's wrong because there are too many possibilities.
Amblyopia, binocular instability, hyperopia... would be the three obvious suspects, but there are others which should be picked up if those are being looked for.

20/20 is typically a general guide for "distance" and does not apply to reading. If you have a problem reading ti is best to talk to your doctor. You may be hyperopic, unable to see clearly at distance less than 3 feet and your doctor is not aware. If you are fairly young then it is something few doctors routinely check.

it may be the way you read.
if you move your head with the words horizontally then you need to learn to keep your head at one point. you should wear some sorta reading glasses or something if you dont already. it could be bad lighting, you can get a reading lamp. if you are straining your eyes then you need to get them checked again and consider glasses/contacts
