Yes I think she should. Highlighting doesnt cause as much damage as actual haircoloring and if she doesnt like it she can always use baking soda to get it out

Personally I think 12 years old is too young to color her hair (even if it's just highlighting)

The youngest I would allow it would be 14 or 15.

Just think.. if she starts coloring and highlighting her hair now.. can you imagine how damaged it will get by the time she graduates high school.

I would wait until she's 14... and that will be soon enough I'm sure.

Also you set a precedent that she can do the things she wants as long as she pays for them. Make sure she's clear it's not about money.. it's about being old enough.
good luck !

No. She's still a child. Don't rush her or allow her to rush herself into adulthood. If she wants to color her hair, there are many washable colors you can spray in, like on one piece of hair caught up in a clasp, or one braid. Con-Aire even makes a color applicator that streaks the color all the way down one section of hair. This way, she can play around with her hair on the weekends and wash it out for school and/or church. No 12 year old should be using permanent color on their hair.

why does she want to? Does she want to end up looking like a witch by age 30 because her hair is so fried by too many years of treatments?
This gal will have plenty of time in the future to alter her appearance. It is too bad that she is not happy with the way she looks.
Tell her to use her money for something that will be more positive - like giving a donation to the local animal shelter.

Well I don't see anything bad with highlighting. Your 12, old enough to know what you want. But Its your parents decision. Your still at the age were you need to listen to your parents.

You picked an answer on your first question about your hair. Why have you asked four more times in three days?

No son or daughter of mine would be allowed to do that at 12.

Sweetie, that's completely up to your parents. I have a daughter that I started highlighting her hair when she was 12, but perhaps I have different views on it than your mother does. I really doubt that getting opinions about it on here is going to change your mothers mind.

I am 13 and I have been highlighting my hair for a year now. I think it is okay, as long as they know what they are getting into. You have to keep getting them done so that your hair doesn't look dumb, so depending on where they get it done, it can cost a lot of money. As long as she is sure that it is what she wants to do, and that she knows it is expensive, than I would say that it is fine.

Yeah, I think 12 is old enough for highlights :-) But make sure she uses a gentle formula, you don't want her hair damaged this young.

No. Too many girls are trying to grow up too soon. Wearing lots of make-up and not enough clothes. What would you honestly need to dye your hair for? You're 12. Not 22. Let yourself be a kid for a little longer or you'll regret it when you're older.

I would say yes, as long as she gets it done at a good beauty parlor (not in her friend's bathroom, for instance), and if she does it in a color that's allowed at school (my school didn't allow pink highlights, for instance). I might suggest to her that she try temporary highlights at first, to make sure she likes the look.
