Global Warming is exactly that, the whole planets temerature as a whole will rise. Climates that are sunny and have warmer to hot temps(ca, fla etc) will become desert like and cooler climates (wash, ny, canada etc)will become warmer and experience more moderate to high temps. Alot of it is caused by greenhouse gas emissions but also another underlooked theory I have is the constant urban sprawl and clear cutting of trees and local plant habitat causes the uv rays from the sun to bounce back into the atmosphere instead being absored and turned into oxygen by plants and trees. This can be remedied by green roofs and urban greening of spaces. Check out greenroofs.com. There are also a ton of enviro chic/celebrity bandwagon type sites, that have good info.

It means the whole earth will be warmer. Icebergs and glaciers melting would cause the ocean levels to rise and some coastal cities near sea level may go under water. Some areas of less rain may get more rain; other areas may get less rain. There may be mudslides and floods and increased hurricane strengths and fire acreage loss. No one knows exactly the consequences of global warming. Farmers and herdsmen, who document the evaporation rates of ponds for livestock, have reported the world over that evaporation rates have increased. I found that fact while studying ultraviolet rays. The internet does give little known information but it takes some effort and persistence.

I read somewhere that the north would become warmer, but the southern areas, and desert areas would experience more coolness. That the temperature would be more moderated across the planet. Not good for you if you are a polar bear, but might not be horrible in some arid areas.
