The important fact is that you repented and ask the Lord to forgive you and He says if you will do this that He will. If you are wanting the Lord to make Himself known to you, then ask the Lord to do this for you. Continually ask until He makes Himself known. It took me three months seeking Him daily. The Lord wants us searching for Him and seeking His face.

When you repent from your sins, that is the first step. The second is obtaining wisdom and walking upright before God. When you become a doer of the word, you will feel a change. When you hear people saying I haven't changed, I know they aren't reading and living the bible. Ecclesiastes 8:1 tells you that wisdom makes the face shine and the boldness of the face to change. The NT tells us you become a new creature. So, if you are a babe, you may not feel anything right away, but if you endure and work out your salvation in fear and trembling, you shall be changed.

When I turned to God and gave my whole life to him and followed him, I was happy. Its like being forgived and saved from hell even though I deserved to go to hell.
Its an awesome feeling!
But some times we shouldn't just go on feelings.
Btw, true repentence comes from the heart. Sometimes we repeat some things but thats not willfull. If you are determined no to sin and to fight the temptations that means you truly repented.

When you really repent, you have reflected on what you did that hurt someone around you, and you have reflected on how what you did hurt YOU, and you have reflected on how what you did hurt God. Have you done this? Just because you're not "feeling" something, doesn't mean that nothing happened. If you've truly turned away from what you have done, and resolved to never do it again, then in God's eyes, it's over. You've turned away from it, and you've asked for forgiveness, and when you ASK, you RECEIVE, remember? So you've received forgiveness. God's forgotten about it, and you should forget about it, too. It's over.

How can you repent from something you have done? You cannot retract what you have ultimately brought into this world, be it an idea or action.
Change can only come from within. Instead of repentance one should just apologize to those they have hurt, be it others or themselves. True repentance, if there is such a thing, can only manifest itself when one does not repeat what they regard as wrong or immoral ever again.

Then you have to let your actions be governed by faith, rather than how you feel. Somewhere in your subconscious you can't accept forgiveness. When Jesus died on the cross, that was enough punishment for sin. You do not have to beat yourself up, make yourself feel guilty, or add anything extra to Christ's sacrifice. His atoning blood was sufficient.

Like Mother Teresa, we do not go by feelings but by the promise of Christ that our sins are forgiven when we repent and confess for "Whose sins you shall forgive ,they are forgiven"

In God's eyes a thousand years is like a second to us. If you truly repent, you will feel it soon enough. (note the word truly)
