make a paste from baking soda and water then using your toothbrush.. polish/brush your teeth with it, just get your toothbrush damp and rub it in the paste and brush your teeth. The baking soda will whiten your teeth and it is slightly abrasive so it will polish off some tartar and plaque. It might take a few days worth of brushing and it will not be as bright as when you get them bleached at the dentist but it is cheaper, something you can do at home and safer for your teeth than bleaching products

It's simple - just switch to a high quality toothpaste, if you're not already using one. I recommend going for one that's clinically proven to remove stains and doesn't have fluoride, like this one:
