This is a scam. It could be an express upgrade that was givini out free by ms through mfgrs during oct 06-mar 07. These are motherboard specific to the mfgr and cant be run on another computer so you're just wasting your money.
OR it could be an illegal copy like from russia, china, malasia, etc. These are illegal.
It could be an OEM copy, it is illegal to mischannel an OEM copy and if you have ANY trouble, you will have NO support from microsoft and you also just voided the warranty on you computer because you put illegal software on it. VERY knowledgable people can get away with putting oem software on their computer because they can fix their computer themselves. But if you don't know computers, you usually need tech support and a warranty on your computer.
OR it could be a copy that someone has already loaded and is trying to recoup some of his costs. Good software now phones home, and the company will recognize that two copies with the same key are being used, you'll get a nice little letter saying that soon you will be getting a knock on the door from some men in nice blue uniforms. Dont worry, you'll almost certinaly get off with a fine, but your lawyer costs will kill you.
OR it night just be a plain scam once they get your money you'll never see or hear from them again. You often get offers like this in spam email
Don't waste your money unless you get this in a SEALED heavy plastic box and the holographs are intact and FIRST make sure your computer AND all applications and drivers are vista compatible

I don't know how old you are, but you should always be quite skeptical of anyone selling computer software at cheap prices.
To answer your question, NO, you should not get Windows Vista. I did upgrade to Windows Vista Premium earlier this year when it first came out. As I suspected, a lot of other software is not compatible with Vista as of yet. It isn't a totally bad operating system. It just is not necessary. Wait a while until Windows Vista is compatible with other software and programs.

Even if you dual boot Vista, I think you should just keep your $50 bucks and XP. Vista is okay, but I would wait.

Wait. Because Microsoft has already announced a new OS coming out in 2 years. The first service pack for vista is coming out in a couple of months with not much of an upgrade.

It may be a scam. Until Vista has been around about 6 months more, and the first service pack comes out for it, it' s not worth it. If it's a homemade copy, it will not work.

As someone who upgraded to Vista, then downgraded again, I say wait untill software producers are able to catch up with Microsoft. As a Vista user you'll have many compatibility disadvantages, especially when it comes to gaming.

check to see if your laptop or desktop manufacturer support vista for your laptop model. then check if you have at least 128 MB of VGA card (Preferable 256 MB).
If so then your computer is vista capable and you would at least get the visual effects that vista came up with in this version.
Personally I wouldn't upgrade to vista until Service Pack 1 is released.

EDIT :
See the link below on how to dual boot XP and Vista :
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download
Disregard the Linux and Grub Bootloader instructions and scroll down to the Windows method.
Hope this is useful.

Is it a legal version? What hardware do you have? Vista is great on a new PC but not sure about upgrading and if you have less than 2Gb RAM forget it!
