Hi. I'm 15 years old, and I got my permit in June.
My parents say that I need insurance before I can actually drive a car.. Is that true?

No. the first thing you are asked for to get insurance is your drivers license number. Since you don't have one, and only have a permit, you are not driving except with a parent or an adult in the vehicle with you who is responsible for everything and anything you do.

You only need to be added after you actually have a license.

For those who think differently PLEASE ask your insurance agent and stop giving bad advice here.

Yes. You need to be covered under an insurance policy to drive a vehicle. Some policies cover the Permited Driver under the parents insurance policy, some don't.
