I will always take the mountains over the beach.

I can find something to do 365 days a year in the mountains. I ski, I climb, I kayak, I hike, I camp, and occasionally I mountain bike...but only when I get paid to do so. Mountain lakes and waterfalls are usually cleaner and more refreshing than beaches...at least to me.

I have nothing against the beach, but unless you confine yourself to the tropics, beaches pretty much are a summer operation.

Strangely, when I've gone to the tropics I usually und up in the mountains anyway. When I was in Puerto Rico I spent three days in the rainforest and only one on the beach.

Variety is the spice of life,a beach is a relief to one after being in loads of beauty and what there is to enjoy that blends with our nature. However movies, commercialism etc has promoted beaches and all over the earth skinning off on beaches in a lazy relaxing fashion is considered a norm.Fortunes are amassed by large resorts all over the earth by gathering people to within their doorstep day and night.~~~Wonder how Global Warming is going to influence some of that or ones involved as water levels rise. I imagine there will be a lot of land grabbing.~~Willie D, seems to have a handle on it,a thumb up for him.

I'm a mountain person... have lived in it all: beach community, shore city, Rockies, northern plains, great plains, Appalachia, desert and tropics.

I am also an outdoor person and the things I enjoy to do (caving, rappelling, paddling rivers, hiking in forests, camping, motorcycle riding) all are in the forest.

Perhaps if you've lived in may flavors all over, then you would know why some people love the green mountains. Too bad you don't.

Well considering I live 1800 miles from the nearest ocean, I would say that I prefer green over tan. It's shady, cooler, and I don't have to look at over weight people trying to fit their fat *** into a speedo.
