Assuming you know next to nothing about him, what would cause you to leave all you know to traipse around Judea with him?

People were already talking about Him before He began to call disciples and no doubt they had heard of the Man from Galilee. I know that they say His Words had power in them unlike the Religious leaders of the time. So yes I would have no doubt dropped what I was doing to follow Him.

But they did know of Him from the Old Testament. They knew a Messiah was coming. Their heart told them it was Him.
