The blue is butane, the red is propane, using gas outside in cold conditions, it is always safer to use propane(the red gas bottles)propane will keep burning at lower temperatures(or i should say ,gassing off)butane will fluff out and stop gassing, this means the flame goes out, when it gets warmer the gassing will start again and flow, with no flame it can fill a van and cause an explosion when you switch a light on.All outside workers use propane for this reason. It also burns hotter, dont forget the regulator.DO NOT USE A REGULATOR FROM A CAMPING OR CARAVAN SHOP,GO TO CALOR GAS AND GET A GOOD ONE.

its best you ask calor gas, there should be a depot near you, look in the yellow pages. We used the red ones when we had ours. you will need to get a gas check on your van if you have bought it second hand. you will also need to keep the gas outside. its best if you get it serviced and buy an automatic switch over regulator.

ok first get a tank of the red and a tank of the blue
then make a tiny weeny hole in each one so the gas comes out a tiny bit
then you torch it and whichever makes the biggest explosion is obviously more powerful.

"red diesel" is solely for farm equipment. Not for commercial use. To obtain this fuel use must be license to carry in your vehicle. DOT and the Department of Agriculture do random checks. If your not authorized to have red diesel, your screwed. EDIT: my answer regarding the gas, is for the van, not the cooking, David say what the gas is for.
