I like the teachings of Jesus where he encourages people to not judge each other (stoning of the adulteress). I also like how he does not separate himself from people who are considered by most to be undesirable (Zacchaeus). He encourages forgiveness and admonishes people to let go of the need for revenge (turn the other cheek).

Actually, if I were to choose a religion based on behavior, Moroms score the highest marks (except for their biking young missionaries, extremely annoying).
No, can't think of anything that is unique to the Christian message that has a positive impact. Do unto others is a common message in other religions and philosophies. The rest of the Christian message is accept whatever is taught without regards to evidence or proof; ignore the facts, faith is all there is. These have had the worst impact on society and culture, second only to genocide.

I'm tempted to sound sancrimonious in my answer, but I guess my comments will quickly be swept aside as one of the so-called moronic christian yaks.
Let me start by saying that every human being communicate to the limit or degree of knowledge he or she has acquired. There is something wonderful about the GOD that created the heavens and the earth. That is, he gave man "choice". God did not create robots on planet earth but creatures that could make choices depending on their degree of intelligence. My perception of "christianity" may be very different from yours but I believe it will get me to see GOD one day.
Virtually all parts of God's message produces an impact on the world. This impact can be positive or negative depending on how it is applied. For instance, a message like..."there's only ONE God" can turn a moslem man or woman into a suicide bomber which ofcourse have a negative impact. Looking closely at Jesus Christ's teachings, you'll find a blueprint for a positive change in our present world as long as people do not go beyond what is taught.
The clear teaching of "God is love", "Love your neighbor as yourself" definitely produces positive impacts for the world. It is essentially why the whole world is not in war at the moment. Yes, people can practice this without being Christians. This brings me to the definition of a Christian. In times past, Jesus's deciples were in the city of Anthioch and people noticed that they behaved like Jesus the Christ in many aspects of life from "love" to "miracle working", so they said one to another, these people are just like Christ. They are Christ-like which in their language sounds like Christ-ian. Later on, these diciples were called Christians.
So you see that Christianity is not just another religion. It is a personification of Jesus Christ.
I'm sure this will give you all a food for thought next time you call someone or someone calls you a Christian.... I rest my case....

Sure, there are good parts of the Christian message. For example, "love your neighbor as yourself". If people actually followed this, the world would be so much better off.
BUT, this message is in no way exclusively Christian and is in no way superior. With Christianity, the messages often appear to come with a caveat: Be kind to others, as long as they think like you. It may not be written that way in the Bible, but I think the fact that it calls atheists people fools would suggest otherwise.

Some of the "christian message" is alright I guess but it is all really just simple common sense. If you are a descent person who tries to do the right thing it will not matter if you are a christian or an atheist or whatever.
In my life I have NEVER seen christianity turn a selfish and indecent person into a truly selfless one. NEVER. Every time I went to church I saw just a many narcissistic idiots there as I saw anywhere, so what does that say about christianity?
All in all, it simply depends on what kind of person you were born as. Christianity brings all that hocus pocus crap that people do not need and it also makes them intellectually lacking.

Since the main point of the Christian religion is the acceptance of Jesus as savior, and I don't believe in a soul, no, I don't really agree with the message of Christianity. The love your neighbor and all that are a part of many world religions.

Some of the ideas of the (fictional) Jesus character have value as ethical guidelines. Heck... a good bit of my ethical philosophy comes from fictional characters invented by Robert A.Heinlein, so I can't quibble about that. The supernatural garbage, though... that's got to go... along with the christian penchant for trying to force this nonsense upon everyone else.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish zombie, who is his own father, can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced, by a talking snake with legs, to eat a piece of fruit from a magical tree... (etc.)... and that there is something horribly wrong with people who ARE NOT so gullible and droolingly stupid as to believe such outrageously ridiculous codswallop.

The main point of Christianity is accepting Jesus. The main point of Jesus' message was to love each other. Just get over the stupid crap and egos and accept and love each other.

Instead of apologizing for your brothers and sisters in christ, you should do as the bible recommended....get together with another christian or three who feel that these brothers and sisters in christ are disgracing your message, and admonish them together.
Your policing them would avoid the necessity of atheists having to answer such embarassing displays of ignorance.
The only positiive thing that you could do to impress me is to behave appropriately. I care not what you believe. I care how you behave.
