We will be leaving sometime in March from GA. We have 2 children...ages 3 and 13(they will be this age when we go) and a bulldog. My hubby's report date is in May. We were already told to get the mile post. We are driving. And we are also looking to buy a house in Palmer, Eagle River or Wasilla. Any info anyone can give will be welcome. Any tips will be welcome....thank you!!

Lucky you! We drove up in August 1991 and left in 1995 so I can't accurately comment on current road conditions or March-May weather. It took us about two weeks from Goldsboro, NC to Anchorage by way of Denver and we weren't pushing hard.
I will tell you to keep a good camera handy. You'll constantly see things you'll want to save and share with the folks back home.
