I have a 7 month old puppy that has an appointment to get spayed in two weeks. This morning we discovered she is in heat. Can we still take her to her appointment in two weeks? Is this to early for a puppy to be in heat?

Thanks for the help!

She should be fine after 2 weeks. If you're worried, make the appointment for three weeks.
Keep her confined to your home and leashed at all times.
Dogs can be tricky at this time.

I suggest you call your vet and ask whether to reschedule the appointment. Heat can last anywhere between 14 and 21 days, so there's always a chance that she won't be in heat in two weeks. 7 months is about average for a puppy's first heat.

You will need to speak to your vets. many vets don't like to do it during the heat as teh blood vessels are larger making it slightly more complicated.
A dog can start their heat any time at 6 months or later so no it's not early.

I would call the vet and asked to get her done right away. It may cost a bit more, but it will be well worth it.

Until she is spayed she must never go out alone even to pee. Take her out on a leash and stay with her. Don;t get a child to take her either. It may need a strong arm as when she is really ready to breed she will be off in a flash if you don;t have her under control. Males will come from miles around to try and breed her.

Get her spayed now and save her and yourself a lot of problems.

You can see if they will move up her appointment. It will cost a bit more to get her spayed if she is in heat, but it will give you piece of mind that she won't get pregnant or make a mess everywhere.
