Those rules - the ones in the OT - were given to the Children of Israel, and NEVER applied to non-Jews. Somehow, the expectation that non-believers should adhere to 613 commandments crept into the post-Judaic manifestation of monotheism.

God (in the Old Testament, where these rules appear) expects non-Jews to follow the Noahide laws to achieve salvation. Is it so hard to support the Word of God?

CC: 3 down, 610 to go.

Let's start with Number 1: One God - no others. This is relevant to a non-believer exactly HOW?

solly, dont forget that out of the 613 only about 56 are doable, the rest are related to the temple and to rabbinic courts and to things we dont do anymore ;)
and ... well... people got jealous of all the restrictions and laws given to the jews so they adopted them and sometimes made them more severe just to be... er... more righteous than righteous can be :)

Excellent point. Now, Jesus brought the New Covenant in the New Testament to all people, Jews, Gentiles, and everyone as explained in Peter's vision of the sheet full of animals from Heaven. But remember, Jesus fulfilled the Law. No longer was it just wrong to commit certain acts, now we had to get our hearts right with God. Actually, that was God's idea all along. He's always wanted to have a personal relationship with each of us. He even sacrificed His Son to make it happen.

The answer lies in the wording of your question. Monotheism is the belief in ONE GOD. So it doesn't matter if you are Christian, Muslim, Jewish or whatever. If you have a monotheistic belief you are going to believe that your spiritual belief is the ONLY one that counts. Some monotheistic followers believe that a non-believer is a blank canvas ready for spiritual teaching, so they would still apply their rules of religious living to non believers.

the question of one god , no others would be replied by a chirstian or a jew by the fact that the god of the chirstians, jews and muslims is the same god but given numerous names. The diversity upon this that everyone think "their god" is best makes that no one will obey the commands of the others

It's kinda like they're saying, "Hey, if I have to be held down by this restrictive law, then so do you! If I have to suffer, then so do you! I can't get away with breaking this law, so I'm sure as hell not letting you get away with it!"
Yeah, that's pretty much it.

Matthew 9:13
...go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

All rules based on the authority of God are ultimately nihilstiic, because there's nothing underlying their foundation.
