Everyone is a spiritual being who is just passing through this earthly experience. What counts is which spirit they are following. One spirit leads to eternal life with God. The other spirit, under many disguises, leads to eternal life without God. As Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life." The emphasis was on the word "I". He also said, "No one comes to the Father except by Me."

If we have a spirit we can. And I would say that we do. My body isn't the only thing that I am. And my thoughts are not the only thing that I am. I have a spirit which has been quickened. Even before I was a Christian I had spiritual experiences.
Yet many people, some of them possibly answering your question, have never had their spirit quickened. They have no idea that spiritual part of them exists. It is said that their spirit is asleep. So they deny that there are any spirits at all!

Anything is possible. We leave life as spiritual beings so it is possible we begin life as spiritual beings. No religion has the absolute answer of where we come from and where we are going in life or after our life is over.

A companion idea is that we are spiritual beings trying to learn what it means to be human. The original quote is by Tielhard de Chardin, a French Jesuit priest.

Exactly. That's what man is not comprehending. Think about it. Wouldn't Jesus's teachings make infinite more sense if this was the case? There are religions available that are based on this very premise. I know. I belong to one.

Some say! but there are those that say only some of us, while others say all of us. Seeing the worst of human debree, I can not say all of us, I believe some are dead in spirit, and will display the actions that confirm that.

It could be possible, but there is no evidence to support it. Reality is not determined by belief, your perception of reality will be shaped by your beliefs but the actual reality will remain the same.

very much so. we existed in spirit before we came to earth and we will after we die. until we are resurrected with a perfect body. our spirit and body will reunite in it's perfect form and we will no longer struggle with the mortality of man. or the constant struggle to subject our bodies and carnal desires to the will of our spirits.
