protein is an excellent night time food.

it's really the only thing that should be consumed in quantity at night time when the level of activity is low. low fat cottage cheese and low carb blended protein shakes are optimum for night time use. they are anti-catabolic so they can actually help to preserve muscle mass while losing body fat.

carbs are not only more likely to be converted to lipids when consumed late at night but they also cause insulin levels to increase drastically. this causes a decrease in growth hormone secretion during the end of the 1st sleep cycle. gh is the most powerful fat burning substance that the body produces and the most anti-catabolic substance as well.

your not supposed to eat anything at night but yes a little protein is by far better than carbs. Anyways it really depends on how much you eat I often eat about 100-200 calories at night only 1-2 hours before bed and I really dont think it harms me, but some people will eat a stack of cookies with milk or pizza ect which is not good at all

Protein does not digest well, so I don't recomend it right before bed..., I suggest eating your last meal 3 hours before bedtime and skip the bedtime snack.. if you must, maybe a handful of nuts, or a yogurt....
