Tom, my friend, love is not used enough.

When I was 20, I had a phenomenal experience regarding God. He came to me, covered me in a soft fleece of warmth, which rendered me motionless. Then said just one thing to me in a VERY strong tone: "If you only get this one thing in your life, GET THIS! Love is the ONLY thing that matters!"

Then the soft warmth slowly evaporated and I sat there totally stunned with the entire experience.

That was the first time I heard His voice. It was unmistakable! It was INCREDIBLE!

And He is right. Love is the ONLY thing that matters in this life.

God bless you!

I wonder if you are talking about "love" in a religious sense, as in "the love of God",whatever that is. In my opinion, love realized as kindness and compassion are good qualities. Hatred which leads to violence is generally negative. But being overly attached to anyone or anything in life, including an outcome, is not ( for me) helpful. I do hold the search or "love" if you will of self-truth to be advantageous. But a too fierce love of others or of an ideal when thwarted, can break the heart and thus break the person. Hatred is often a natural reaction to being hurt, but at least its a reaction. In the long run I believe that indifference and simply not caring allow for more harm, because then hatred and evil are free to take over. Love and hatred are emotions, and as such neither is of itself commendable or stupid. It is what they are applied to and how they are applied that makes the difference.

I really don't know what you mean when you talk about love in this context. Perhaps it's just something I haven't the capacity to master because I didn't love the guy who attempted to rob me at knife point a few years ago and I didn't love the guy who cut me off in traffic this morning on the frwy. and endangered my wife's life and mine. I simply can't grasp the word "love" when it comes to situations as I have described. Nor do I hate the individuals described, but I sure as heck didn't love them. I hated what they did, or tried to do, but should either of the two need assistance I'd certainly do whatever I could to help under different circumstances. I think "love" is like "racism" in that they both are hugely misused and overused.

Yes. I met my hubby when I thought there was no hope for me, and I tell you, when I was least expecting it.BAM, like a meteorite, I found the love that helps me fulfill myself as a woman each day, and I fulfill his needs as a man. I mean in every way. I love laughing with my hubby, which we do when we are together 90% of the time. we worship the lord, and we are perplexed by the hatred surrounding us in this our beautiful country. , and we so hope that our love can touch someone in a positive way. I do not hve it in me to hate. I do not understand I feel LOVE wipes hatred right out of your cells.
I pray everyone can feel and understand the true power of love.

"Love lifted me, love lifted me! When nothing else could do; love lifted me!"

This may be a just another Christian song to some; but in my case it's literally true! I was a very staunch agnostic, firm in my unbelief and skepticism. I was sure that nothing could ever shake my arrogant ignorance; but . . . ! God, through circumstances which, at the time I could not discern, through His great, unremitting, undeserved by me, agape love, brought a young lady into my life a little over 43 years ago. Through this relationship I came to experience God's love for me and, as our relationship progressed, it grew into a love relationship - first agape, then phileo and eventually romantic love. It was through God's agape love for me, both directly and through this young woman's growing love for me, that brought me to a saving knowledge of God and my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! By the bye, this young woman and I shall be celebrating our 43th Anniversary this December, the Lord willing!
