When ever I have oatmeal for breakfast, or any time of the day, I get really sleepy. Does anyone know why this is?
Thanks.

quite simple really: the food which you have consumed has gone to your tummy, and blood rushes to your tummy in order to allow nutrients to pass through, making you sleepy! thats why people have coffee after meals! i wouldn't recommend that you eat oatmeal, because tiredness is quite an adverse reaction, especially in the morning. there may be ingredients involved, or that it is hot and milky...

EDIT
did you ever have hot milk as a child before bed? it could be psyhcological, so when you have the milk, you feel sleepy... lol kinda like my mother, she always had a coffee with her cigarette, so whenever she drinks coffee she gets a craving for a cigarette :}

hope i helped!

Every time I eat oatmeal it makes me sleepy. The family thinks it is my imagination. I think it is due to not eating regularly. When are we allergic to it?

I am also an oatmeal fan, and have some every morning.
I think because it's such a wholesome, hot and milky meal it makes you feel full, contented and sleepy.
Hope this answers your question!

you are probably suffering from low blood sugar or hypoglycemia because you do not eat regularly. so when you do consume something that is high in carbohydrates, even a healthy one like oats this causes your insulin levels to spike which clears blood sugar. the end result is feeling tired and lethargic.
