CC, I see your point yet that's not what I mean sir. I mean praying in private for people without their knowledge. Wishing the best for them, without telling them.

It is not only not harmful but we as Christians are commanded to.

Matthew 5:44"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and [pray for them] which despitefully use you, and persecute you;"

Luke 6:28"Bless them that curse you, and [pray for them] which despitefully use you."

You are correct. There is nothing wrong with it. Many non-believers have seen and felt the power of the lord, due to the prayers of those that do believe. I say pray for those that know not the merciful, unconditional love of God.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

There's no harm in it ... just as long as you aren't saying that you're going to, simply to be insulting. I've heard some people say, "Well, I'm going to be praying for you," to non-Christians and the tone of their voice suggested that they were only saying it to be condescending.

And to flip the coin, my father is Pagan and he prays to his God and Goddess for me ... and I don't take offense, just as he doesn't take offense if I pray for him.

And by the way, when I say praying for someone, I never pray for them to agree with me ... only that they'll have the strength to get through a hard situation, or that they'll find happiness and contentment ... regardless of the path they choose.

Theres nothing wrong with it I pray for people reguardless of their beliefs. I mean its a caring thing to do and its not like by praying for them you're forcing your religion on them or anything.

You know what I pray all the time for everyone...
"God, please put people, places and circumstances in their paths so that they know who YOU are"
I don't pray for the will of anyone to be altered, changed or tainted, we know God won't do that, but He will listen to our prayers and place things in/on their paths to show He's there for them when they are ready.
That is what happen to me before I was saved, I didn't have people preaching down my throat and bible thumping me, I had wonderful God fearing people who's faith was much stronger then mine and they prayed that He would just show the availability of Himself to me.
I saw it over and over again until I was able to surrender to Him, happily I must say:-)

I pray for non-believers every day. First praying that the Lord call them to Him, and then for whatever their need may be, if it is His will, of course.

you're not doing any harm, we are suppose to pray for others and nonbelievers. We're suppose to pray for everyone, but we should do so in private and not broadcast it.
