mmmmmmmm.... Trek not bad at entry level?
mmmmmmmm.... Remember a guy called Lance Armstrong
mmmmmmmm.... I think he may have won a couple of competitions on a Trek cycle.
mmmmmmmmm.. Who do Specialized supply bikes to
mmmmmmmmmm.. The entry level market?

Fella- your Trek is a bit old hat now, and £200 is about the top end of the market ( I paid £150 for mine but the paintwork is dinged!)
Trek is backed by years of building, years of competition at high level and are, basically bloody good bikes. I been riding for 40 years (originally on Raleigh cycles then Dawes) and I swear by Trek.

I should add that I am now 58 and still cover 5,000 miles a year on my Trek road bike in Summer and my Mountain bike
(mmmmmmmm also Trek) in Winter. Last year I did the Coast to coast in December on a Trek which will be identical to yours!

Trek Y3 Mountain Bike

I don't really dig Trek. They're okay for entry level hardtails, makes decent but uninspiring FS. The 2008 redesigned Fuel does look different, looks a lot better than previous models.

I just think that Trek didn't put the whole interest in mountain bikes, probably more in road bikes. But I think that the Y is a pretty outdated design, and would look elsewhere.

Probably you could find a better hardtail for the price.

Trek are a decentish make at entry level but your money would be better spent on a Speciailzed or higher level trek.
Are you using it for off roading? Remember as a rule unless you spend thousands on a bike and you take up mountain biking as a real hobby you'll end up tayloring most of the bike to your needs so spend more money on a good Frame!
