We have the same last name and everything but I'm not sure how it works. If they ask for my ID and my name isn't on the credit card then will they accept it?

(Yes I have my mother's permission.) I'm planning on going homecoming dress shopping, if that helps with the answer.

It's too bad mom doesn't go with you, then this would be a moot point.

As long as they don't ask for identification, you should be fine. But, a way you might get around the worry is to go out and shop, but only hit stores that have websites that sell their clothing as well. JCPenny's comes to mind. Then, when you find the dress that you like you can run home and have mom charge it for you... all with no chance of the embarassment of them saying you can't use her card.

Good luck

Most stores will ask for identification if the situation seems fishy. I used to work at Macy's and I would explain to the kids or the spouse that we couldn't do it. If she wants you to have a card, she can call the credit card company to have a card set up in your name on her account. No extra fees or anything like that, and she will have it in a few days.

If you have your mother's permission, you can use the card. However, some places will refuse to accept the card if your name isn't on it.

You should not. That is considered a type of identity theft and it is fraudulent use of a card. She should go with you up to the check stand and take full responsibility herself.
