My cat has a really bad habit of chewing on rubber bands, and then throwing up. How can i get this to stop? She is eight years old but very smart, she knows how to sit, high five, and walk on a leash. I've tried to train her not to eat them but it doesn't work.

Your cat sounds very smart, but I've never heard of teaching or training them as much as you have. Mabey it doesn't understand or likes the taste of rubber. I haven't a clue how to 'train' your cat not to chew on the rubberbands, but I have one suggestion. You should not make any available to her. That's usually the best, and easiest way.

Stop leaving rubber bands where she can find them. Cats can get into all kinds of small places and find all sorts of interesting things. Even though she's older, and smart, you have to cat-proof the house.

get a container for the rubber band so the cat can not get to them. rubber bands, if ingested, can cause serious health problems such as intestinal blockage.

just keep the rubber bands away from her. I have a cat also, it isn't that hard to keep her away from stuff she shouldn't be in, just pick it up.

Your cat is trying to send you the message that you are an untidy person and is barfing to let you know what she thinks of your untidiness! When you stop leaving them laying around, your cat will no longer need to send you this message any longer!

I think she likes the stuff you use on
your hair, if she's chewed your used
bands before. It's usually sweet.

If you have a file cabinet just put them in there. If you don't then...this may sound weird but, it worked for me. Put them in the kitchen cabinet.
