Well the Mean Thing in the Bible would mostly be the Old Testament and the orders to slay millions of people and the taking of captive women and forcing them to be your wives...not to mention all the sacrifices and the slay of all unbelievers...Even Jesus says To slay unbelievers...The important things in the Bible are the few laws and commandments that say common sense morals (thou shall not kill, commit adultry etc...) So the only really important things in the Bible are actually common sense and you do not need to find common sense between all the immoral things...I would suggest taking it with a grain of salt and accepting it as a book of mythology as it should be...

Depends on which perspective you are looking from. The hebrew perspective in the o.t.= obey 600+ laws or else. Jesus perspective in the gospels= seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. According to Deuteronomy 6:5, Matthew 22:37-40, Mark 12:29-31, and Luke 10:27 it is to love God. How can we love a God we do not know? How can we know God unless The Spirit of Truth reveals Him to us? How can The Holy Spirit reveal Him to us if we cannot tell the difference between The Holy and the unholy spirits?

The most important lesson is a very simple rule to live your life by. Love your Lord God with all your heart and soul and love your neighbor as you would love yourself. This is the greatest commandment taught to us by Jesus and is central meaning of all lessons in the Bible.

The most important thign to do is to follow the command and laws.
To serve God only and put no other God before God.
To love your neighbor as you love yourself.
Love everybody and treat everyone in the way you want to be treated.
We have to have a heart of pure love and then many doors will open.

Read John 5:39-40, I think Jesus put it into prospective there. True there a lot a person can learn about life, but, the main point is to find life through Christ Jesus.
