But do they realize that this is a RELIGION & SPIRITUALLITY site/forum? We have every right to state our point of view here. This site was meant for religious, Christian and spiritual conversation and guidance - not to be ridiculed & insulted by atheists & non believers . It doesn't read "Atheist & non believer site" so give it up and stop acting like you "OWN" this site. Christian, religious people, do you agree with me?

Yes I do agree. I don't mind an intelligent discussion with atheists, but usually it's non-stop taunting and ridiculous questions. I guess its their way of demonstrating their highly evolved intellect.

Actually, the site is meant to gain knowledge about religion and spirituality by asking questions and receiving answers from people with varying faiths.

We ALL have the right to post our opinions here. Christians have the right to discuss how Jesus can be a great help in times of trouble, and atheists have the right to be annoyed by it.

I don't know if the person who asked the question you referenced to meant that they didn't like receiving those kinds of answers in real life or on this forum ... but I do feel that if you post a question in R&S, be prepared to hear advice from everyone. If you don't agree with the advice, you don't have to take it -- because obviously everyone isn't going to agree with everyone here!

Edit -- I looked at the question again, and the asker did specifically say "on here".

Just ignore the ignorant comments and read the well thought out ones that others have to say. They are simply stating what they believe in as well. I am a Christian myself but feel everyone should be able to post whatever they want, as long as it is in good taste. When people start insulting and bashing beliefs, whether it be a religious person or not, that is when it gets out of hand and annoying. We have no right to judge another opinion and should just be here to have intelligent discussions among each other.

We don't understand it either. Especially when you try to convince impressionable young children in their own schools. Most atheists have no problem with others being people of faith per se, it's the evangelizing that hacks us off. If a person chooses a religious path once they are old enough to understand what the concept of a 'God' is all about then i'm happy for them to do so. To try and get 'em when they're young is almost unforgivable though. And NOT very 'Christian' from an ethical and moral standpoint.

In my time here, I have not seen a single atheist act like they belong here *more* than anyone else. As much as, yes, and quite right too, this is for everyone to discuss religion and spirituality (and Christians, by the way, fit into that, so don't put them aside as if they're in a catagory by themselves, because that squishes your own argument - you just make it seem that you think *you* own this section. But that would be ridiculous, of course). But the amount of people who attempt to kick atheists off this site is shocking.

"We have every right to state our point of view here."
Well done. Perhaps now you can stop being ignorant and realise that so do other people, too.

Awww so you come here for guidance, don't you get enough of that at church, prayer meetings, holy rolling good time meetings, or just hanging with your thumper friends. Please Kalico, yes people get annoyed, only because you all talk the same delusion, it is truly a tragic comedy the way you people don't discuss anything of reason. And yes non-believers OWN this sight, they're the ones who bring reason here for you to chew on. Every time thumpers answer GREAT questions ALL people get to read the goofy answers. Thumpers get to think for a change, everyone else moves just a little farther from the foolery and closer to the real truth. It's a beautifully thing science and reasoning winning hands down.

Do you understand that your questions in R&S are seen in all categories above it, i.e. I did not see this in R&S I saw it in Society and Culture.

Did you read the actual question you're going off on? The asker was essentially asking if Christian platitudes to real problems iritated anyone else. The asker is not protesting against well thought out or heartfelt answers, but empty and trite statements.

The point being, serious questions about life, universe and everthing deserve better answers than "god says so" even if you are a Christian.

Note the irratation was not directed at Christians expressing their belief, their belief, or even at god, it was expressed at the trite answer and the total lack of consideration that it implies.

Can you say FREEDOM OF SPEECH? We all have that right!
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion! BUT, they do not have the right to shove it down the throat of anyone else!
Check through the pages, and read the number of questions that are directed toward the atheists! I can not believe the number of times, christians have asked the same questions over, and over, and over again! So, you should be sure of your facts before you go on a rampage!
It is the christians who think that they own the site! They just need to be reminded, once in awhile that they don't!

I believe that if someone has something good to add the the discussion, no matter what religion or belief, let them. Now I am in agreement with the you when you say people shouldn't answer a question just to poke fun at a different belief system. Always be prepared to receive answers you may not want though.

Not quite, this site is meant for q&a related to Religion and Spirituality. It is not a discussion board.

There is no sign on the door that says I have to be religious, Christian or spiritual in order to participate.

If you want Yahoo! to create a "Christians Only" section, why don't you ask them to?
