When people ask questions on here, does it annoy anyone else when the Christians start answering with stuff like (basically saying): "become a Christian/obey Christian laws/God will help you/Believe Jesus and you will be fine"? I mean, they can believe what they want, i'm anything but ignorant, but for serious human problems, religious answers really don't help.

It's in the R/S section because it is about religious people giving answers to questions.

I'm not offended by Christian reasoning, i just don't like how sometimes the only answers certain people give is "follow Christian rules". Most Christians give good detailed answers, i'm just talking to the select minority.

I think i've been misunderstood. I'm not talking about answers recieved in the R and S section. I'm talking about answers recieved in other sections.

It doesn't annoy me at all. Usually people are asking for a Christian to answer their question. A Christian that has accepted Jesus as Lord of their life, has a beautiful gift to share! They want you to share in the joy that they have found. And you're right, religious answers don't solve your problems, only God can do that. Only God can give you wisdom. Only God can open doors for you or close the ones that are determental to you. Only God can look into your heart and know what truly is wrong in your life. But you see, these Christians that you seek answers from, they already know that, and all they're trying to do is lead you to Jesus so you can find out the answers for yourself. They're not ignorant either. In fact, they're pretty wise.

I wonder about thier spiritual perfection that is achieved with only asking Jesus in thier hearts and have nothing to achieve by becoming more understanding and accepting of people who Christ would have them help and love without asking anything of them. I think that if a person who has true spirituality many would just naturally tend to ask him/her what is it that make you the way you are. As apposed to them saying "You must believe reach down into your pockets and give your 10% so sayith GOD" I have had more so called Christian be just out right mean and vicious because I do not agree with thier beliefs let alone the many denominations not being able to agree about thier doctrine. I gues in the book of kings where the two mothers made a pact to eat thier children becuase thier was a famine in the land makes it ok for any one today to do the same if they are starving.

Perhaps in your case EDUCATION would be a great start. For example the area you posted in is RELIGION & SPIRITUALITY, yet you say "religious answers really do not help.." Perhap the problem is not in those that answe but in you that you are not well enough educated to understand that in th R&S area the people are mostly of the mindset that religious answers are expected.
I guess you would be upset if you went to the automotive section and found people answering questions about car repair by quoting Chilton's Manual. I have a suggestion, if you dont like te answers you get here why not go to a different area and ask questions that might find answers that you feel validate you?

I think they really do believe that Christianity can solve all problems. I know that's hard to believe, but they do. So if you turn all your problems over to Jesus, they will be solved. Unfortunately, the weight of evidence is to the contrary.

I do get annoyed at times, but I try to remember that most of them mean well. If they put the emphasis on "you will burn in hell unless you . . ." I would report them. Particularly in the field of psychology and related matters such as child-rearing, threats of hell can be truly cruel.

But try to be compassionate toward these Christians who relay all questions to Jesus for answers. They are more to be pitied than scorned.

God's word, the Bible, is a book of instruction for us to follow.

It will help IF you choose to let it.

Many times mistakes have been made in all walks of life; because people have failed to read the instructions.

May I ask why if you're so offended by Christian reasoning....are you in the R/S category?

I have been a pastor for over 34 years. In that time I have seen countless relationships and serious human problems caused by modern secular thinking. But I have never found a relationship or human problem that couldn't be strengthened or saved through Christian counseling, prayers, and love.

So as much as I may respect you, I must reject your premise.

Actually, I have found that in the really serious problems that is when I need God more. And He is there. God has always been with me and guided me through. So you can believe what you want, as for me I'll stick with what works.

I am not that easily annoyed; I know that I can accept or reject any advice.
I am not certain which questions you refer to, However, I know that the Bible does contain practical advice for everyday living. These answers are generally much more pointed than the type of answers you describe.

We only mean to pray that God Blesses You. We mean no harm or offense. It's just our way of spreading love through Christ Jesus.

I disagree with your premise.

For all the REALLY BIG human problems, ONLY religion supplies the answers.
