I was wondering, what's a sport that if you work really hard at it for a few months (even though it is new to you) you can become good enough to be on a high school team for that sport.

Cross country. It's a mental sport- the harder you work, the better you are. There's pretty much no way to cheat- those that train the hardest do the best. Plus, it's tons of fun!

everything takes a LOT of practice. nothing easy. but if you were thinking about the "easiest", it would have to be swimming. when i was a freshman in high school, i wanted to be on the swim team but wasn't good at swimming. I didn't know how to swim at all. Putting up with the intense practices for the first two days were HORRIBLE but you get the hang of it soon. you start to build up your stamina and within weeks you can swim decently if you practice enough and swim the right way.

good luck!

the reason you want to become one of those sports people is that other people would admire you.

other people admire sports people because they have acheived the status of being on the team and being good etc.

sports were designed by people who wanted to make people work hard to get that admiration ...so sports were designed to be hard to acheive...there's no shortcut you cheat.

Play the ones you like. Concentrate on the one you are best at or most enjoy. If there's one that makes you feel proud, choose that one.
