Because once they get the dream act, they will get financial aid and a free ride. It's not about education or a path to citizenship, it's all about the freebies.

They could easily goto college in Mexico and ::gasp:: immigrate to the US legally once they graduate.

NEWSFLASH - IT'S NOT CHEAP & EASY TO TO GO TO COLLEGE IN THE US EITHER.
The college I listed up there, costs the same as any state college here in the states.

If they give these ILLEGAL immigrants a free ride to college AFTER they just raised the tuition for the Americans, they are going to create one pissed off country. Think about those students who are working 2 jobs to support themselves and pay their way through school. How will that make THEM feel that these ILLEGALS are getting it for free.
I can't afford to go to college because I am an American living in America. I pay taxes to this god-forsaken government and they would rather send an ILLEGAL to school instead of me. Do they understand how many schools they are going to have to build? Just think how crowded those classrooms will be NOW!
Hello?? Mr. President!! What about us??

I'm sorry but poor in Mexico is not like poor in the U.S. In Mexico for elementary school you need money to buy the books and uniforms. When these people are poor they'll probably eat every second day, if they are lucky.
College for them would be "the impossible dream".
They cannot see a Doctor if they don't have money, and mostly infants and toddlers die needless deaths.........that is dirt poor.
The old people get no pension, with what should they buy food, let alone medications.
I wish you could live there for a while and actually talk and be with the local people, not tourists; it is absolutely shocking to think people still have to survive daily... >3

Sure, there are colleges in Mexico, but they are not free to the illegals. If this Dream Act is passed, then they will get to go to college for free and gain citizenship. They will be receiving much more than our legal children could ever dream of.

This is a frustrating topic for me, esp. when I read posts like the one above me. Yea, it's expensive so let's have someone else foot the bill with the money they had for their OWN child's education. They are not ENTITLED to anything here just because Mexico doesn't provide, too bad. Please don't tell me that these people do not understand the concept of not always getting what you want. You are so right...it's the freebies and there are many, many freebies that go along with financial aid for college as I learned from the many receiving them while I was paying for my own college...every last dime. Where was my Dream Act!!

Well.....when I went to school if you wanted an education you got off your duff and worked your way through school. There weren't that many scholarships, there weren't any grants for the poor and "special" considerations for groups, very few qualified for loans and there weren't that many parents rich enough to fully pay your way through. The test of how important an education was to you was how much were you willing to do to get it. It was only the elite who got the easy route. Many times it was just 1 kid in the family who got the chance. This attitude of entitlement is something recent......coz it sure wasn't always that easy. Let alone thinking illegals should get a free ride since too many of our own still don't.

I don't know how you can blame someone for wanting an education. Yes, they do have colleges in Mexico, but not everyone can afford them. The colleges might cost the same amount of money, but its a lot harder to make money in Mexico.

Great question; the "dream" act is really an extremely mis-guided socialist nightmare for US tax payers and US citizens! ALL US citizens should be outraged and vehemently opposed to it! That's all we need - another reason for more illegal immigrants to stream across the borders - all via a program subsidized by US tax payers! See what happens when DC gets your tax $$?

let's put another spin on this... I'm not sure many Canadians were screaming about "why isn't she going to an American college" when I went to a university in one of their provinces.
Though I saved tens of thousands of dollars, on both school and housing, by doing so. It was even cheaper than going to my own state university.
Had you put up a link in *gasp* English so people could see where your "amnesty" outcry is located on this site, it would have been extremely helpful. Because I doubt a lot of us speak Espanol.

If you have been in this country since elementary school, or since a baby, your entire family is here, etc. Why would they go back do Mexico?
Interestingly enough, I do know a child that did go back to go to school in Mexico City. He is sophomore year now, studying medicine. The only way he COULD do it was because his father had a fairly serious accident in a factory (his hand was mangled), and, with the $ they got, he was able to go back to Mexico. He was only here since 14, so, going home wasn't that hard for him. My sympathy is for the kids that only know the US as home.
