As soon as Reagan became president he said we were communists for making ties with China (PRC), th Soviet Union and Cuba. They spread propaganda in the U.S. saying we were going to somehow "strike" and kill them. At the time we were a country of about million people, 5 million against over 100 million? I think not. People who think they know what hapened here, know nothing. They don't know about how the "contras" came into Managua armed with heavy machinery and came into our barrios and just shot people they though were sided with the Sandinistas. They continued walking the the streets and they raped young girls. They got 4 people in my barrio took them in the center of our small streets and shot them one by one. But the U.S. was just interested in getting the Sandinistas out of power.

Why? I don't know. They backed a Dictator who suppressed us for over 3 generations. At the time of these dictators my country had an illiteracy rate of over 80%. Something the Sandinista government managed to lower (with much help from Cuba) to less than 15% in only 5 months. UNESCO for the next 10 years awarded us for ever literacy crusade we had in the 80s. The U.S. back the Dictator (Somoza) because somoza gave them our resources for little money and had people working in jobs, many of whom were never paid, so he practically have a nation of slaves, his own blood.

The best thing we had were the Sandinistas. They gave us freedom of speech. Sure, they also did some bad things, like running the jews out of the country, but this was because we supported the freedom of Palestine, we didn't support Israel. Even through this, two of the Jews (one) became a top commander in the Sandinista military and the other was involved with the government ministry. We have done some wrong, as any other nation in this world, but the atrocities the "contras" did to this country have shaped our lives ever since then.

The U.S. condemned us for ties with the east but to fund their "anti-revolutionary" contras they sold weapons to Iran to illegally fund an illegal war in my country. Lets not forget the CIAs involvement in shipping drugs from Colombia to Los Angeles via the contras. I'm sure you know all about the Iran-Contra scandal. All this.. all this and after the Nicaragua vs. the U.S. court ruling and nothing has been done.

How is it that someone who is "of Nicaragua" cannot even spell the former dictator Anastasio SOMOZA Debayle's name correctly? I smell a troll here.

Sure. I remember it well. In fact, I have a small collection of military insignia worn by members of Somoza's National Guard. I saw Somoza in person once. He ran that country like it was his own personal business and in many respects it was.

It's just another nation that makes manufacturers of guns and weapons and their distributors rich and happy. It has become more of a fact that, in today's killing clmate, that a disatisfied and angry mind-snapping holder of a gun can just shoot and kill! The World has become yesteryears' Wild, Wild West... thanks for weapons and gun technology and weapon manufacters, and their distributors!
