The only doctor I ever go to is a gynecologist.. I dont have a general doctor ( i guess ive been lucky enough to never really get sick.. although i know i know.. i should go for check ups)

Anyways.. ive decided I need to speak to someone about my anxiety problem and possibly get on medication..

Can i just go to a general doctor about this? Or do i have to go to a neurology/psychitrist person?

Actually, many general doctors, are able to prescribe you some xanax or something to take for the anxiety/panic attacks...if you have someone that you have known for a while, and trust,..go ahead, and tell him your problems..they are trained for many facets, and this is something he/she can deal with and good luck and feel better

You can go to a primary care physician for an initial discussion regarding anxiety and or depression. Many primary doctors will prescribe anxiety meds but may refer you to a psychiatrist for some counseling and medication prescriptions if they feel that is the best course of action.
It is good that you recognize there is a problem. Many people try to hide the problem until it has gone to far.
Good luck and best wishes!

If you are a natural person you should try cognitive behavioral therapy. It was the only thing that has helped me with my horrible health anxiety. Read here https://tr.im/EndPanicAttacks

Your thinking determines your quality of life. Your thinking is what causes you these feelings:

Anxious, fearful, stressed or depressed
Constantly worried, or angry about something that is happening in your life
Struggling to overcome obsessive and negative thoughts.

If you change your thinking, you will change your life. This is the basic idea behind CBT for anxiety. The Cognitive part is where you learn nee methods and ways to change your same old habits and thinking patterns. If you keep thinking and expecting the worst – You will continue to suffer.

Let a family doctor check you out, depending on the severity of the anxiety, he will either treat you or refer you to a psychiatrist, they specialize in this type of thing. If you are or start having panic attacks I would go to a psychiatrist. Sometimes these conditions can be worked out with therapy, but if severe, you will probably need medication, especially if it interferes or disrupts things you normally do in your everyday life.
Wishing you the best.

Do you want medication? If you do, go to a psychiatrist. If you simply want counseling or therapy, go to a psychologist, counselor, or therapist. Medication can cause side effects, but pot really isn't the way to go. There are plenty of anti-anxiety meds out there to help, and simply research the side effects. Medication has very rare side effects that can be dangerous, and you can look for the serious symptoms they warn you about. Don't rely on what you hear, go to a psychiatrist and talk to him or her yourself. And please get off the pot, I can't believe you're worried about medication messing you up when you're on that crap.

I personally dont think its a good idea to go to the Dr and just ask for anti depressants
the first thing you need to do is find out from your local health & community centre where you can go for counselling
If you feel its not enough help for you then you need to see a psychologist .
Check out some websites and try and ask for suggestions as to who is good in your area.
Do you know anyone who has seen a psychologist ? If so get recommendations there are good and not so good psycs out there so ask around and shop around
good luck
