Well I'am able to work but I can't lift anything over 20 pounds. When I first got hurt my back couldn't withstand lifting anything over 15 pounds. Its been 5 months since than and I'm better but can't find employment. I made the 985 working at popeyes chicken and yes I recieved pay stubs just didn't keep them. I worked there for 2 1/2 months and than i got hurt. Also they are now trying to fire me because I claimed Workers comp. Anyone know a website to get a attorney for this?

If you made the $985 from a job, then it should have been reported to the unemployment bureau by your new employer. Call the unemployment comp people and ask them. Something is weird though that you aren't getting pay stubs - how are you being paid? Earnings from self-employment wouldn't be eligible for unemployment comp.

Also, if you are off work because of your back injury and are unable to work, you wouldn't be eligible for unemployment - that requires that you are able to work and are available for work.

Good luck.

You go back to your local unemployment office. You can also apply on-line. If the employer didn't report the $985, then you still will not qualify. Employer must report in order for you to get a claim.

If the employer paid you as a private contractor instead of as an employee, then nothing will be reported to the unemployment commission.

call the state unemployment office in your area. sometimes you need to have earned $XXX in what they call the "look back" period (calendar quarters prior to the current one). The employer you earned this last amount from may not have reported it yet and earnings are only reported to the state at the end of the quarter (usually 4 - 6 wks after).

hope you qualify - good luck!
