I bought a Coleman LENSATIC COMPASS at K-mart ( try the outdoors camping dept. ), it's a better compass because it is in liquid and more stable. I paid around 4-6 dollars

Please if you use Compass , stay away from all metallic objects including dish because the metal will interfere with compass.

Also keep in mind Magnetic deviation , that is the true direction you must point at , depending on where you live you wil have to add or subtract a couple of degrees , and yes it's possible to live in a perfect location where you don't have to do either - + .

I wish I knew what satellite you were pointing at ?

Here's a link that can help you.

The dish kits usually include one about 1 1/2" in diameter. It is accurate enough to get the initial position set correctly. If there was not one in your kit ask the dealer.

You could also go to an outdoor or camping store like REI or EMS and get a small one there.

If you don't have HD then you should be able to find it yourself. Just look which way your neighbors is pointing and mess around with it. The spot beam is pretty large and pretty easy to find without a compass.

HD is another story.
