I have just bought a Mac.

If I load Open Office onto my system, am I able to save the files in Word format to transfer to my work PC ?

Am I also able to save Word files and open them using Open Office.

It would be a real saving if I could !

Yes they can.

You can also save a document within OpenOffice as a Word .doc file.

.ods files are standard OpenOffice Writer (word) files.

Personally, I still find MS Office apps far superior to OpenOffice.

Yes , as long as the file was saved as a .doc Some features and format options might not sync though.

yes! Open office will let you do this and much more! ou should at least try it before considering going and spending money on MS office it will take very little getting used to and you'll be marvelling at how easy it is and why more people don't use it!
