I LOVE the colour black. It is by far my favorite colour. I want to paint my office black. My mom is advising me not to though. What are some things I should know about black paint before I paint my wall? Has anyone else painted a room black? If so, how did it turn out?

Well, black absorbs light so you will have to use more interior lighting unless you have lots of windows. And if you do have lots of windows, the black will absorb the sunlight which will make the room hotter so you'll need blinds... so then you'll need lots of interior lighting.

I wouldn't go as far as to have black carpeting though, it will show EVERY scrap of paper, lint, etc. in the office.

One option would to be to paint the three walls a lighter color and have one wall black as an accent wall.

There is also the issue of hanging pictures, I'm not sure if they make black caulk so repairing holes when you change things up could be a problem, not sure there though.

I like the previous answer.. I would highly recommend NOT using a black paint in the whole room.. Maybe an accent wall would be the way to go and get some or take some blk/wht. pictures and hang them on the walls instead.. Black also isn't the best "mood" for an office if you want to accomplish anything.. I would use black in the accesories and NOT on the walls.. Plus if you wanted to paint over black that might be a nightmare ! It would have to be primed 2 coats and then painted possibly 2 coats.. I would also imagine that flat black paint would show scuffs, dirt and dust... As most black things do... So, that might be a problem as well.. Good luck

If you like black then paint it black. In the future if you want to change it just apply a coat of Kilz and paint away. You don't need advice, you need a paint roller and a brush.Good luck.

never paint with Matt or vinyl Matt paint as it acts as a blackboard and one touch and it marks.try using an eggshell paint or vinyl silk as its hardy and easy to clean
