It is 25 pole PCB mounted.
I need to find the manufacturer or distributor, or at least what it would be "officially" called.

(...and please, don't tell me to go to Radio Shack....!)

Made by "AMP" which is part of Tyco Electronics. The male pin version part number is 211759-1. Hopefully with this you can find yours.

It looks kinda like an automotive connector. If that's where it's used, try GM, Delco, Bendix, etc. or an automotive electronics distributor.
You have an advantage just knowing what kind of equipment it's used in. You could always try to find the equipment manufacturer.
