Many believers in God DO believe in guided evolution.
It's the official position of the Roman Catholic Church, for one.

Some Christians who believe that the correct reading of Genesis requires a young earth rightly see that the time required for evolution is incopmpatible with their views..

Some atheists see the randomness and lack of care and benevolence inherent in evolution to be incompatible with the existence of a loving powerful deity.
(The quirks and faults of the human body and nature, the history of extinctions...)

I hold this last view.
The more I understand about evolution, the less I can see that a *caring*god had anything to do with it.

I think part of the problem is with the comment to your question. Go figure, every history book ever written has been merely of perspective, not events. Anyway ...

People cannot believe (and I will just for the sake of argument say Christians) in evolution because evolution is simply misunderstood, ignored, feared, fear-mongered, ostracized or criticized to the point of being a marginalized reality.

When you marginalize something its importance is not entirely realized. Evolution also becomes a loaded term when the aforementioned is done.

Evolution, simply put is change over time. The second part of evolution is natural selection, or that those who at a particular time are most fit to survive, will survive. Those who do not will not. These principles are not difficult concepts to understand. Perhaps take some time to read the Pulitzer Prize winning Beak of the Finch. It helps to explain the second aspect of evolution occurring in our own time. Christians cannot ignore this. And if in fact natural selection is taking place right now on "god's green Earth", shouldn't Christians celebrate it?

For several reasons: If evolution is true, then Adam and Eve did not exist, the garden did not exist, and most importantly Original Sin did not exist. You can wirite the rest off as a metaphor, but if you remove Original Sin then there are a number of theological problems, i.e. no blood sacrifice, God "creating" us evil in the first place, and no need for for the crucifixtion.
The second reason is that evolution doesn't have any indications that an outside force is needed, i.e. there is no reason it needs to have god in order to work.

FINALLY! An intelligent question!

Many people in my family's religion (I'm not a part of it, but am knowledable in it) believe the "seven days" actually symbolize, say seven billion years or so. And adam and eve were symbolic, not real. Catholicism is open to the evolution theory and teaches it in their schools.

I am sure not all Christians do not believe in evolution. I do support evolution somewhat. While I do believe God created each and every living thing, I do believe that He did give us the ability to adapt to our world and surroundings, which is evolution. I just do not believe we evolved from apes, that is all.

OMG!
WOW!

That's a reaaaal big given in your argument.
First give evidence of god's "devinity" then we will show how he may have created this imperfect world. Hence reducing his divinity.

Well, that just about wraps it up for god.

Because they don't believe. They belive all the arguement out there that might explain how we cam about. If they had a strong faith then they would relaize that God created Adam and Eve and we came out of that. We hen cam out of Noah and his family since he was the 2nd father of the generation, Adam was the first.

True, but it point blank says,

But then when it came to man,

7And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

You see the differance. God formed man with his own hands, he got personal. Everything else he just spoke and it was, but man he formed with his hands, and then he breathed life into him. That is awsome. And then when man fell, and was perishing God once again, gave himself for man. We have a personal God.

Evolution debunks the story of Genesis.

To believe in evolution is to not believe in God and what He wrote in the Bible. If you don't believe in a Creator, how can you be saved? This is a tool that the devil uses to keep you from your Salvation.
