There were no benchmarks that Bush signed into law met this week, but he, Petraeus, and Republicans see progress. Maybe in another year, after a thousand more US troops die and $100 billion is spent to protect Iraq's freedom, they can meet another one. Then they will only have 14 left to go.

I really don't know... but they call them "Benchmarks" because they are measurements of success that are difficult to achieve.
You might be surprised how long it took our country to get its collective fecal matter consolidated after the war of Independence.
You might also be surprised how many casualties we suffered in Germany after the war was over. There was a group called the Werewolves that were trying to resurrect Nazi Germany for a good little while.
learn more about history to understand the would you live in. Try not to be so naive.
Try harder to challenge opinions you agree AND disagree with.
Warm regards,
Douglas

typical liberal pap. its truly heartwarming that you feel so much for the iraqi people but i doubt seriously theyre on a day to day schedule to keep the pelosi ites happy in this country. whats important is that al qaeda is there and not here and yes its just that simple. this situation doesnt fit into the quick fix unilateral surrender the pelosi/reid regime wants to so quickly offer.
and by the way if you kept such observation and desires of pinpoint precision of "benchmarks" with the pelosi/reid regime perhaps we wouldnt have
757gate
the non taxpaying territorial vote grant
over 36000 carded requests for non defense related pork barrel spending
and of course the ridiculous reid all nighter
all authored by your party
liberals...gotta love em(sic)

From what I heard, most of the military-oriented benchmarks, but almost none of the government-oriented benchmarks.
