It's a Sony SLV-E730 VCR, and I recently moved it from one room to another, and now it won't power up. I believe the anti-theft system has locked it. I can't find the manual, not much info on the net either.. what do you think?
Thanks

In answer to arseteroid (good question), it was just moved within the same house.
I've heard about the post code anti theft system, but apparently with that system the VCR carries on functioning, and all it means is that if recovered, police will know where it's come from. Which sounds really dumb to me!!

Why do you think it's the anti-theft system?

It could be a blown fuse.
It could be a failed capacitor.
It could be a damaged mains lead.
It could be a faulty socket.

Always start with the basics first...

Trash it. It's broken. It's probably worth no more than 10 quids at best.
