summer makes me all depressed and lazy and all I wanna do is stay home with the AC on all day, but as soon as it starts getting cold I get happier and I go out more.

I think it is possible. I wouldn't say its "normal" though because if it were normal, it wouldnt be a disorder. ;-)

I am always depressed but it gets worse in the summer months. It seems like i forget that I get worse in the summer until i actually start getting worse.. then I also get really introspective and start thinking about the last time I felt this bad.. then I realize it was last summer and the summer before that and so on and so forth.

It's really weird that I seem to forget each year though. I should anticipate that I am going to get more depressed but somehow it always comes as a surprise to me.

So... to answer your question, I think it happens more often than people think.

Ya know, I've been asking myself the same thing lately. I think it's quite possibly the case for some people. I absolutely loathe summer, and usually become more depressed during the hotter months... and like you said, that first crisp breeze of fall makes me giddy.

Aha! Wiki says if it occurs in summer, it's called reverse seasonal affective disorder.

Another source says it's called simply Spring and Summer SAD, and that reverse SAD is being manic in the summer months rather than depressed... so Summer SAD is probably the right term.

We're not imagining it then! :)

i don't comprehend in case you will possibly call it Seasonal Affective ailment, as S.A.D. is known to be led to through loss of solar (shorter days) and the clinical care incorporates sunlamps. the reason i comprehend this is via the fact I go through as you do- each and every summer season i'm getting very very depressed. there is not any anniversary or date to mourn. the climate is gorgeous. existence is fantastic. there is not any rationalization for me to be so depressing, yet each and every 365 days, from late would until the top of August, I go through.

It couldnt be that you just dont like the heat could it. I get depressed in the summer to but its because its just too darn hot to get out and do anything. The air conditioner gives you a nice cool place to hide out. S.A.D. I do believe has more to do with light deprevation. Now I could be wrong mind you its just my opinion. Your depression could be just the issue of not wanting to leave the comfort of the cool so your just bored.

Yes, this is a recognised, though less common version of SAD, which is conventionally winter based and down to a lack of light. Reverse SAD however, is real.

I thought S.A.D. was about the amount of sunlight you got, so that in winter there was less sun, that was why they were depressed.
