they are souls , that is why they were used as sacrifice as a subtitution on the soul of the sinner.
Genesis 1:21 "And God proceeded to create the great sea monsters and every living soul that moves about, which the waters swarmed forth according to their kinds, and every winged flying creature according to its kind. And God got to see that [it was] good. "

I've asked this type of question a long time ago and was told that animals do no have a soul because they are just that animals. And yet when someone harms an animals those same people are yelling to stop hurting god creatures. So if animals are god creations then shouldn't god have given them a soul as well? Ah! the many mysteries of religion.

If you use the traditional definition of soul, animals do have them. The soul, according to Aristotle, is the animating principle, that is, what makes something alive. Even plants have souls under this definition. Aristotle said that there is a hierarchy of souls. Plant souls would be at the bottom, with the rational souls of humans being at the top.

Many people dont know this but the hebrew word to denote a soul is also applied to animals in the OT. Animals DO have a soul but are NOT made in the image of God.

The soul is the mind, the will and the emotions. Animals have minds, will and emotions as well. So animals have souls. But they do not have spirit as God only breathed spirit into Adam when Adam was created.

Everything is a part of God.
Everything that exist, exists as an integral part of God. Animals are not exceptions to this rule.
Religious ideas that speak of a God that live on a far off cloud called heaven, are simple foolishness.
Jesus told us that the kingdom of the father was within Us.
I doubt if he was wrong.

You might be thinking of the widespread idea that the soul is a wispy thing inside us that departs at death.
That is erroneous.
Please note Genesis 2:7, "the man came to be a living soul."
What is the verb?
It is TO BE ......not to have.
Therefore, man IS a soul.
He does not HAVE one, he IS one.
Just like animals.
They ARE souls.

I have read the answers before me, and I think they all miss the point.
In the beginning, God said let there be.
he said this with light, earth, land, water, the moon and the stars.
He said let there come forth, plants, trees, fruits, veg
He said let the sea team with fish, the skys with birds,
He said let the land produce living creatures of every kind
But then when it came to man,
7And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
You see the differance. God formed man with his own hands, he got personal. Everything else he just spoke and it was, but man he formed with his hands, and then he breathed life into him. That is awsome. And then when man fell, and was perishing God once again, gave himself for man. We have a personal God.

Animals don't wear clothes, so if they did have souls, they'll all be going to hell.

We don't. Religious beliefs are all about faith, having confidence in that which cannot be proved or disproved. No one knows anything, everyone just has opinions.
