of the word "theory" as it is used in the phrase "Theory of Evolution"?

In science, a theory is a mathematical or logical explanation, or a testable model of the manner of interaction of a set of natural phenomena, capable of predicting future occurrences or observations of the same kind, and capable of being tested through experiment or otherwise falsified through empirical observation.

The Theory of Gravity and the Theory of Evolution are scientific facts, not wild guesses.

I think you have shot yourself in the foot by using the word 'scientific facts'.
Both the gravity and evolution theories are unprovable, like all theories, but can be disproved by coming up with an observation that they can't explain so they are either modified or abandoned in favour of a new theory. Thats from Stephen Hawkins.
Both theories stand at the moment because no one has come up with anything, so far, to disprove them. Though evolution theory has changed with the discovery of DNA, ring species and may change further when they find out more about how parasites could have had a hand in changing the habits of animals.
Until Creationists come up with evidence that evolution theory can't explain, your point I think, the theory will not be seriously challenged from that source.

As to the creationists who claim no transitional forms, here's some for you http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/4337888.stm

i think of you're perfect. there is not any way they are in a position to celebrate with each and all of the luxuries that technology has given them and then each and all of the surprising thick scientists are idiots. they might desire to a minimum of have the slightest expertise of the logistics on touchdown a probe on Mars, that's shifting at hundreds of MPH. they might desire to comprehend the difficulty-free dummy can no longer even construct a go-cart , no longer to point an area craft. they might desire to comprehend that they does no longer have a clue the place to start to make a working laptop or pc from scratch. they might desire to comprehend that scientists are the intellectually elite of the international. How ought to they probably think of that scientists merely get stupid while it is composed of the only ingredient that contradicts their historical fairy tale? no person may well be stupid adequate to think of they're smarter than the collective scientific community, can they? lol

You can't blame them for equating 'theory' with 'wild conjecture' when you look at just what they thing the Theory of Evolution actually is:

As far as they're concerned, the ToE consists of:

o The universe 'just happened' even though (strange how dogmatic they are about this bit of science) it involved matter coming from nowhere.

o Life arose by slime suddenly turning into animals, for which they quote astronomical odds against, and refer to Hoyle's 'hurricane in a scrapyard' analogy.

o 'People came from monkeys'. Sigh.

No wonder they don't like it! The fact that none of this is the actual theory of evolution at all is not a bother.

What I find irritating is that they must be assuming that every bio-science professional in the world is even dumber than they are to accept their ludicrous straw-man idea.

Yeah.
How come they can't understand it as well as I understand the Theory of Creationism?
ALL you need to know about the Theory of Creationism is Goddidit.
Aaahh; that's why they'd rather subscribe to the Theory of Creationism - there's hardly anything to remember of it - Goddidit.
Hey, even a three year old could remember that theory.

The Theory of Gravity and the Theory of Evolution are scientific facts, not wild guesses.

They are?? Well then you should have no problem popping up a few of those transitional fossils that show one species "evolving" into the next. You know, fish with feet so they can walk on land, or lizards with wings turning into birds, or they just ain't found them yet. Hmm, wonder why?

that's the problem they are stuck on the word theory. and most of them object to science they view it as the work of the devil. Just look at how some people still think that the earth is flat. (Psst. there is a clip from the show The View)

Also they blindly accept the bible as being factual with regards to Genesis because to them it is true because god said so and he said it is true in the bible-- I smell circular reasoning here.

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said intelligently debate! There is no real intelligence involved when the person you are debating is basing their argument on faith. Can you prove to me that there is not a teapot in orbit between earth and mars?...:)

EVOLUTIONISTS: How can you intelligently debate Creation if you don't even understand the meaning of the word 'intelligently' as used in the sentence "God intelligently created all Creation"?

In religion, God's intelligence is superior to that of created beings so that the supernatural phenomena that is God is capable of predicting future occurrences and observations, testable by the passage of time and the predicted events then happening, as God predicted. No wild guesses involved. Just masses of fulfilled prophecies.

Theory is NOT fact, that's why it's called theory. If it were fact, it'd be scientific law. Ergo, it'd be the Scientific Law of Evolution, because it's been proven. Theory is just an explanation for a broad set of observations. We don't know for a fact how the world was made, or how people got here, so just stop trying to push your beliefs on others. Ok? Ok.
