1) What do you think about Islam? It is a democratic religion or it promotes dictatorship?
2) If Muslim thinks Islam is a democratic religion then why all the Islamic countries got dictatorship?
3) Which country is better….. India/European country, secular/Christian but all citizens got equal rights and where there is a rule of LAW and not rule of man.
4) Or Muslim country like Pakistan and Saudi where even a citizen don’t have right to stay in his own country where there is a rule of one dictator?
5) Do Muslims still want to live in medieval age? Where there was a rule of de facto (dictatorship) and not de jure (law)?
Please healthy discussion only. And please don’t insult anybody thanks.

my yooyyoda i fully agree with u about about part 5 that muslims are now passing from that dark ages in which christians were some 1000 years back. but one thing that religion Islam is fully democratic and it gives full authority to humans to adopt any law which dont conflict with basic law given in quran. othervise humans are free to adopt any law. and they are free to elect anybody who is morally as well as legally a clean person.
mr bo i am still waiting for ur answer.

The question needs a long answer, but I will try to shorten it...
1& 2) Democracy means rule by the people through a certain system of representation. However Islam stands for the rule of Allah (through the shairat) which muslims consider superior to that of the people.
Further, in a true democracy all people are considered equal. However in Islam & shairat while non muslims are almost always treated with decency, they are not considered fully equal to muslims.
3) A secular liberal democracy is the best in my opinion. Because the greatest of human development at all levels has happened & is happening in secular democracies. Please check out the Human Development Index which was developed by a muslim economist. .....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_development_index
As you will observe, ALL the top 30 countries in the HDI are secular liberal democracies.
4) About pakistan & SA the less said the better.
5) If any country, religion or society insists on following the rules, customs and traditions etc. as existing over a 1000 years then does it not stand to reason that its mental & intellectual thinking would remain at that level only? Here I do not speak only for Islam. There was a time when Christians insisted in following the bible- the result was the dark ages. The proof is before you. Despite having virtually unlimited oil wealth, has there been any real growth in Islamic countries.

to know about a religion you must read about the religious history and the main sources of this religion
practice of the religious never means the principles of the religion
about the dictatorship in Islam:
it is not excite although you see some of Islamic countries suffering from it
the prophet Mohamed taught Muslims how to be consulting
he used to consult with his wives and friends
azan is the calling of Islamic pray ,do you know that it was a suggestion of a Muslim man? the prophet Mohamed agreed with this man and he did not be a doctoring
about the elections in Islam:
there were many ideal examples
like the election to choose khalifa osman
all Muslims elected men, women and children to choose Ali or Osman
about live in medieval age:
i think you would not talk about that in this ages France used to burn old women alive because they looked like witches wile Muslim scientists invented the mechanic clock

Hi.
Ummm...you seem to believe what you want to believe. Muslims are not living in the dark ages, it seems like the west is living in the dark ages...assuming themselves still to be of higher value than the rest of the worlf. It's one rule for the west and another for the Muslim world. I am on my way out to do shopping before the shops close. I will email you full answer tomorrow or something.

Those who hearken to their Lord, and establish regular Prayer; who (conduct) their affairs by mutual Consultation; who spend out of what We bestow on them for Sustenance;
Translation of Quran, 42:38.
This ayah from Quran says that muslims should run their affairs based on consultation between muslims , there is no such thing as dictatorship in islam, or rule of one man.
There are many examples of this, one of it was when prophet Mohammed peace be upon him died and muslim gathered to elect who will be the ruler or caliph of muslims after him. they elected Abu Baker and when he made a speech after his election he said that he will be the caliph after prophet but if he makes any mistakes, people should correct him.
Islam is democratic religion, but muslim countries are not simply because they dont apply the islamic rule 100%, the rulers or dictators of these countries apply only what suit them.
Ofcourse democratic countries are better than countries ruled by dictators.
Referring to your comment about weahter muslims want to live in medieval age, those medieval ages were in Europe where people were dying from plague, women were burned for suspecting they were withces, scientists burned for their scientific reaserechs, while muslims made a great civilization by applying islamic rules in democracy, science , ethics and other.
We were great in the past so we want that to happen again, its not that we want to live in past.

Will friend I'm not living in the past, but the past lights my day and gives me hope that I could make something for a happier future. the past for me is an ideal model which I can not find something like nowadays..I respect the chance given to human in the west: to think and create
also the opportunities given to people equally which is rarely found in the east ...but I do not respect depravity and the way the social life goes in the west the percentage of crimes and the divorced couples and gay children is a great indicator that the family and society in the west is in real danger contrary to that in the Islamic countries...
1-Islam is neither democratic nor dictator it has its own way and system of governing societies (which is not applied to any country present nowadays- which is called Islamic)the the leader of Muslims should be elected by Muslims not like that in Saudi Arabia,Jordan,Bahrain which are called Islamic countries!
there is a rule called "Shoura" set by prophet Mohamed 1400 years ago when Europe was in the dark ages “Shoura” may be translated literally as ‘Consultation’. In some instances, it has been interpreted as conveying political participation and its democratic implications nowadays. It represents a fundamental principle of the organization of the Islamic community. It is mentioned in various “verses” of the Quran
2-I regret to say that all Islamic countries nowadays are not Islamic in the way they govern the society.
there are many reasons for the dictatorship in Islamic countries one of them is the European invasion to the Arab world in the 19th and 20th century which lasted for along time and it was more than a military invasion it was a cultural one ....and various calls occurred to peruse the invader in his life and society and organization ..so what happened in the arab world is a new born bad model of government that is neither democratic nor Islamic..
Islam never was like Christianity in dark ages...Islam succeeded as a system of life..and governed a nation fairly..and that is written in history...the rules of Islam could be applied nowadays because it was not limited by the conditions present at the time prophet Mohamed it is consistent with humanity (respecting mind, emotions, body, family, even the animal has rights in Islam...there is a big chance to think freely ,invent, and create new rules suitable for your time and consistent with sharia...but this model which is not present nowadays make it difficult for you and others to think of..
3-the United States when invading Iraq is living in the medieval age..Israel when immigrating the Palestinians from their homeland is living in the STONE AGE...what democracy you are talking about in this world?
Islam civilized the Arabs so when they throw it away consider what happened(dictatorship).

Your question is certainly eccentric, and somewhat confused.
No religion is democratic - god wasn't elected, the pope wasn't elected by the people, and almost certainly the officials in your church werent elected by the rank and file.
You display a profound lack of understnding of both islam and the middle east

If a person really wanted to know the truth between Islam and Christian, he or she just needs to do some research by
comparing Codes of Belief Between Islam & Christianity. That is the reason why many of Christian now turn to Islam. It really puzzles me when some of the Muslim decided to leave Islam...do they never find the truth?
I am calling all readers especially the Christians to look into below mentioned code for you to think in searching the truth and for the Muslims, these findings could strengthen your iman, insyaAllah.
Islamic Code of Belief
• Allah (God Almighty) is the only Creator of all that exits.
• There is one God (Allah). Jesus is the Christ, miracle birth- and Muhammad (p) is his last prophet, both of them said, "God is One and you have to serve Him with all your heart, mind and strength.
• Allah reveals His 99 Divine Attributes and does not compare Himself to any of His creation.
• Allah created man from dirt and "in His image" and of "His spirit," yet God has no likeness of anything in creation.
• Adam & Eve sinned, then repented and were forgiven, with no continuing effects on their children.
• God Forgives Adam and Eve after they repent. Then He makes Adam his deputy (caliph) and the first prophet.
• Man is basically good but prone to mistakes. Muslims who repent and submit to God are forgiven without intercession from Christ (or anyone) needed.
• Through submission to the Will of God in peace, anyone, anytime, any place becomes a servant of Allah and draw closer to Him.
• Allah is not like His creation. He is neither male nor female, nor is creation like Him.
Christianity Code of Belief
• God Almighty is the only Creator of all that exits. (Gen. 1:1)
• There is one God. He exists eternally in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (There is no "Trinity" in the Bible)
• God has revealed Himself as "One God" and "One Lord" (Deuteronomy 6:3; Mark 12:29)
• God created man from dirt and the image of God (Genesis 1)
• Adam and Eve sinned and thus brought sin into the world and their sins passed on to their children. (Genesis 3:1-7)
• Original Sin - all of Adam's posterity are born with a sin nature and are sinful from birth (Romans 3:22-23, 1st John 1:10)
• Man is by nature sinful and has need for redemption by the atonement of Jesus Christ (Romans 5:6, 8:32, Colossians 1:19-20, Hebrews 7:26-27, 9:26, 10:12, 1st John 4:10)
• Through the work of Christ, God adopts Christians into His family and calls them His children (Romans 8:14-15, Ephesians 1:5, Galatians 4:5)
• Bible says; "God is not a man... not the son of man.." (Numbers 19:23) Other places contradicts this(?)

YOU HAVE SO MUCH HATRED IN YOU

Islam is not a dictatorship religion and would never be. Most people look at Islam as one monolithic religion. But in South East they have gone through their own specific process of diversification, innovation and adaptation.
What is the reason that Muslims in south-east Asia are more moderate, flexible and more adaptable than Muslims in the heartland? South-east Asia was already very well informed by two major religions - Hinduism and Buddhism - when Islam came. It was forced to adapt, adopt, and innovate.
Look, for example, at the role of women. You cannot dream of putting south-east Asian Muslim women behind the wall. Because when Islam came to south-east Asia, women already were planting rice and marketing their wares.
Therefore Muslims in south-east Asia, and especially Muslims in Malaysia, are somewhat like other developing societies. They are diversifying their economy, developing their institutions and slowly trying to open up the system.
To me Malaysia is the only Muslim society that is effectively facing modernity and globalisation. We used to laugh about them when they were trying to achieve what they called the "Islamisation" process of knowledge of the economy, society and of education. But look what they have achieved. Of course the Malaysian model is not perfect. It can be embellished, modified and improved upon but it is a rich model and at least it is working
What you see in the Middle East is not development. What you see in the Middle East is modernity. Modernity you can buy. If you have the money you can buy all the gadgets of the latest invention, but there is very little development. That is the distinction. But in Malaysia and Indonesia you see greater efforts for human resource development, a process that forces a country to be more open. The society is diversifying. Therefore there is room for participation, access and for give and take within the same Islamic society.
My point is that Islam can inspire you to become a good democrat. Islam can also inspire a society to become a democracy. It depends on various factors that have to somehow work in order to propel that process of democratisation forward.

WE MUSLIM DO NOT LIVE IN THE PAST...BUT WE LEARN FROM THE PAST..WE WOULD NEVER FORGET THE PAST...WE LEARN FROM IT...
WHAT HAPPEN IN IRAQ OR WHATEVER BIN LADEN DID....DOES NOT REPRESENT ISLAM AT ALL....
THEY CLAIM TO BE A TRUE MUSLIM...BUT WHAT THEY DID IS WRONG...
DO NOT BLAME ISLAM OF WHAT THEY DID ON 9/11 OR ANY OF THOSE NASTY THING...
BLAME THE PEOPLE WHO DO IT... NOT THE RELIGION....
