You're only 20....everyone gets depressed from time to time. You are still in the time of your life where you are trying to figure out what you want to make of yourself. Apparently the answer isn't coming easy to you. Sit back and take a long hard look at what could be making you so sad. I don't believe it's because you're not meeting boys and everything else you spoke about. I believe you are wanting answers for your future and the ONLY person that can answer that is you. Depression is an overly misdiagnosed thing this day and age. There are so many medications out there that are supposed to treat depression, but actual "depression" is a clinical problem and must be diagnosed by a trained professional. There could be many things causing your lack of interest in things. It could be your thyroid...it could be MANY things. My suggestion to you would be to get away from the computer for a while, get out and go wash your car, go to the library (yes, there still ARE libraries), go to the places other people your age go to in your area. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. It's Friday night and you're probably sad too because you didn't have a date and some of the other people you know did. Work hard, go to school, get a fun job (something that REALLY interests you) associate with people your age who have the same morals you do....get plenty of rest, eat the right foods, get plenty of exercise and I would be willing to bet you'll feel better and have a better outlook on things real quick. Good luck sweetie. I've been there and I know.

Im sorry you feel that way:( I used to feel that way, then I went to the doctor and found out that I was really depressed. WHat I would do is focus on school, get your degree, then work. im 19 and I dont have a job. My friend is 22 and she doesnt have a job. Life can get boring. At least you have a hobby:) I wish I could do that. You will meet a guy when the time is right:) Just think at least your doing something with your life and you will get a good job, because you will have a college degre and will have a better chance of getting one, then those without one. And some people dont go to school, and just sit on their butts all day. You can do it:)

Get out, get active! join a club at school, look for a part time job, take a look at yourself and see what your interests are and look for people with the same interests. Perhaps you should just focus on you for now instead of finding the right guy. If you aren't feeling good about you chances are you won't make the right choices when it comes to men. Don't settle, you're worth so much more. Piano, come on I wish I could play the piano, find others in your school or community with like interests. You're 20, life doesn't stop now it's starts!! It's all in your hands! If you still feel depressed after you've done all you can to help yourself seek professional help from a counselor. You can perhaps speak to a counselor at school and he/she may have other suggestions for you, just please don't give up! Keep moving, pray if you believe in prayer and just keep moving! Blessings to you and much success in all areas of your life.

= [ why don't you try applying for a job at a place you think you might like, or volunteer. I know what you mean though, my life feels like that too. So I decided to volunteer at hospital this semester. I'm just recently beginning to accept how things are going for me. I too feel useless, so I am trying to remain positive, and do things that interest me. Pick up another hobby, hang out with some friends if you can. If not, join a club at your school. Maybe you'll meet some people with the same interests as you.

I've been there too & I feel for you. While you're on the piano & the computer, nothing will change. It's great to get some input from someone like a school counsellor or a youth group & change the rut your mind has settled into.

You know, silly as its sounds, eating right & a half hour walk makes you feel so much better. Then your thinking starts to get brighter & you can start looking for that job or activity. If I don't eat right, then I feel as miserable as hell. It's a nasty cycle.

When you have ten good songs memorized go to Europe for a year and play the piano to pay for lodging, food and travel . Geographical cures are short lived but excellent in allowing time and opportunity to learn the facts of life. Emails us when you are over there.

i'm so sorry you feel that way. would you know what exactly is allowing life to affect you this way? have you thought about going to therapy. it can help if you're willing to work at it. do you have any friends or adults you can confide with? sometimes that can help too. just please don't give up on life! life is a challenge every day. life is not happy everyday. life is usually miserable with sparing great and happy days. when i learned this thought it made it easier because i wasnt looking for happy moments every second. you are young just starting in your life take it easy on yourself. take a deep breath and work on improving your moods. nothing in life is really worth it.

I feel the same way, but you're in college. Join a club and get a job to keep yourself occupied. This way you will be interacting with people. You will feel the right guy, just give it time.

You can practice on an electric keyboard and get a job with some band that might turn you on.
