We recycle all our pop cans and bottles, glass jars, tin cans, cardboard and newspapers. Vegetable peels, scraps, coffee grounds, tea bags etc. go in my composter and that I use in my gardens.
I live in Alberta, Canada and I use my pop cans and bottles (we're pd. 5 - 20 cents each)money to buy flowers for my flowerbeds each year (about $100.00). At the bottle depot which is also a recycling station I can drop off all the other recyclables as well so it's a one stop type things, very convenient.
Cardboard I sent with the hubby to work as it piles up and they have their own recycle bin at work for cardboard.
I recyle because it is good for our planet, and it really cuts down enormously on the garbage that goes to our landfills.

The easiest way to recycle is getting into a habit...and in order to do that, YOU HAVE TO START!! I have a competition going on at work where it has become a fun game of who can divert regular trash into their recycle bin. It has changed our behaviors completely... even the most ardent Republican in our group has seen the benefit$ of going green... even if he is looking at it from a pure economic perspective.
Recycling is good, but being mindful not to use more than what you absolutely need is better. In other words, don't grab a ream of unused paper and throw it in the recycle bin just to say you recycle. HA!
Why do I recycle? Because it is the right thing to do. Let's say ALL the nay-sayers who call Al Gore a wacko are completely right; and let's also say that all the scientists and their studies about the global warming are WAY off... RECYCLING IS STILL the right thing to do from a moral point of view. Stealing and squandering the resources from our future generations is despicable and flat out wrong.

To meet the mandate on material reduction to landfills, my city contracts with a service that sorts out recyclables. I've never found any good info on the recovery methods, to know how thorough they are. So I recycle my own, materials for pay and others that are simply donated. I recycle because money goes to fund student scholarships. I only have to drive down the street, maybe 3 miles, and if I play my cards right I can do an errand on the way back home so as to save gas.
I recycle because of the message it sends to my children, and my grandson.
I recycle because it's hard to find a suitable site for new landfills.
I recycle because I know many of the materials are finite, and while others, like paper, are renewable, logging impacts are often detrimental to the environment.
I recycle because I think I am being a responsible member of my community for doing so.

I recycle because I believe that it is everyones planent and everyone should respect it. Some places such as the Wal Mart where I live buy acutally has a recycling bin in front of the store so that makes it extremely easy to drop off your things there. If you don't have that near your area call or visit the website of your recycling plant, they will probably give you some tips there. I really do hope that you recycle though.

Throwing plastic and paper in the curbside recycling bin and then putting it out for the regular trash pickup. I do it because it is easy and because it saves space in the landfill.
