if so , i found out 3 months ago that i was diabetic and my gtt was 240 and a1c was 5.4 after dieting and losing 15 pounds
my glyco-hemo is 5.9 do you think i will have to start on meds.

Yes, they are the same thing. This serves as a measure of your average blood sugar over three months or so. (So your doctor knows if you're cheating! :) )

Whether or not you need meds depends on your overall health picture and how aggressive your doctor and you decide to be with sugar control. You should talk to your doctor and weigh the side-effects of the medication versus the benefit you will get against the long term effects of diabetes. THen you can both decide together.

I'm not sure what 'glyco-hemo' is, but if it's short for 'gycosylated hemoglobin' then yes, it is the same as A1C.

If so, then 5.9 is not bad at all. Assuming you're Type 2, you might not need meds, you might be controlling your blood glucose well enough by diet an exercise. But talk to your doctor and see what he says.

As long as your A1C is below 6, it is considered normal. You don't need meds, but you do need to continue to watch your weight closely and eat right, or you will indeed develop type 2 diabetes.
