Because it's a multi billion dollar business.

People will believe anything for a buck.

Because all the sheep go for it - including the politicians. As such there is LOTS of funding for it (great for scientists and researchers - just say it has global warming implications and you get your funding).

Great for governments - new excuse to raise tax "Carbon tax" or "environmental tax".

Global warming is big money - as everyone is obsessed with the < 1% of CO2 made by mankind and forgets about the >99% we have ZERO control over.

And Co2 is just a CONSEQUENCE of climate change - which happens all the time - it is not a CAUSE.

The world has been both hotter AND colder in the past - it will be in the future too.

In short, the sheep accept it without thinking - so a REALLY easy way to get the masses "engaged in a cause" and diverting them from the real problem around us - like corrupt governments, desperate taxation levels and so on.

A decade ago we were heading for an ice age, now we are heading for a meltdown. Neither is true - but it gives everyone an excuse - "Oh yes nothing to do with building on a flood plain gov, your house flooded 'cause of global warmin'"....

Fuel prices gone up again, "not our fault", that's carbon tax that is mate.

Air transport tax HIKED up yet again - that's to make people think twice about using jet aircraft for unimportant trips - holidays for the plebs for example. OBVIOUSLY it is ok to charter an entire aircraft for some bunch of delegates to fly around the world "studying" climate change......

It's actually quite funny if you remove the "sad muppetness" from the equation.

There's a lot of money behind it and people don't like to be happy. It's natural for humans to look for things to worry about.

In the 70's global cooling was a big deal.

Then acid rain, Hong Kong flu, hole in the ozone layer, bird flu etc etc. There's dozens of these scares. If you look them up you'll see that the world was supposed to end a long time ago, but it keeps on chugging along.

A person's point of view is based on when they were born, so these scares can be recycled every generation and no one seems to notice.

The USA contributes the largest percentage of C02 emissions in the world and we need to be held accountable for being the BAD DOG in the global arena. We are the largest industrialized nation in the world with China being a close second and our success in this regard has also changed atmospheric conditions and weather patterns to the point of species extinction in both plants and animals and weather patterns bring devastating consequences here and abroad. As a consequence, need to stop the heavy use of fossil fuels in every sector of society.

The United States contributes a disproportionate amount of pollution to the atmosphere. It is a highly petroleum based society, and the issue has become a matter of political divisiveness.
Solving the problem to some is a socialistic idea, because of the fact that the government would be overseeing a major endeavor to clean the air, and as dated as it is, the United States has a large percentage of inhabitants who were raised on distrust of anything slightly socialist.

some of you people make me really mad.global warming is the press word for the enchanced greenhouse effect.the greenhouse effect is a naturally occuring process and yes ther have always been temperature fluctuations in history but in the past 200 years (since the industrial revolution) the rate of this temperature increase is faster and greater than ever before in the 10000 years of data we have.this is due to anthroprogenic (human) factors, mainly the increase of carbon diocide in the atmosphere, we know this from ice core analysis.global warming is not as literal a term as it sounds, in some countries ther tidal systems will shut down due to the increase of freshwater being melted into the seas because ice caps are melting because global temperature is on the increase, in these countries (such as the UK) they will be plunged into an ice age.basically once global warming takes hold it will mean the end to life as we know it, and eventually the end to life on earth. These same melting ice caps will also increase sea levels around the world and will result in a lot of coastal places being sumberged in water,in one town in the uk the coast is disappearing into the sea at an average rate of 1 metre per day.
also it is less of a 'big deal' in the USA than in the rest of the world.even third world countries are trying to reduce their emmisions, and China is the largest contributor to greenhouse gas emmisions, not the US.if it was really such a big deal and taken so seriously in America then they would have shown interest in things such as the Rio and Kyoto protocol in 1994 when they wer first discussed, rather than in 2007 when Bush was under that much pressure from the rest of the world he had no choice but to fake an interest.
if you think its a big deal in the USA u should travel to any other country in the world wer people are doing something to contribute to the survival of our planet on a daily basis.the USA are for the most part not interested in the problem

The earth is our source of all sustenance (you dont seem that bright so I am sure you will likely have to look that word up) for human beings, indeed all living creatures on the planet. All living creatures on the planet are interconnected, so if climate change is affecting the ability of some species to survive, we should be concerned.

Example, something has recently been killing up to 90% of commercial honey bees. Ok you could say, no big deal, so we have less honey, we can use sugar instead. But agriculture depends on the pollination of bees. If the bees are not around, some crops may simply disappear, which could result in huge calamity for human beings and indeed any species that depend on the plants they pollinate.. Noone knows why this is happening. It may not be climate change, it may not be due to human activity but apparently organic bee keepers are not experiencing the die off.

This is just one example of why we should be worried about the impact we humans are having on the planet.

What's wrong with wanting to reduce global warming? What's wrong with driving less and manufacturing less garbage that just ends up in landfills? That's the real question. It' ain't that hard. If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem

We are 1 of the big contributors to it. We are one of the nations that CAN do something about it. Unlike other contries we can communicate well enough to let our country know the planet is in desperate need of help. the planet may go bye bye within THIS generation if we dont do anything.

USA can do things to change that and make our planet livible . . . .. . before a big giant wave from a island in the atlantic ocean collapes to a landslide and whipes out most of the east coast. Florida will become the modern day atlantis. that iz true.

Because according to the world, we are the blame, only because we are the richest nation in the world. Although I am not going to say that the earth isn't warming up, but this issue has people in a panic.
NOT me however, I don't buy into the bs that humans can change the weather pattern globally.
