They must think that Jesus was joking when He said "Love your neighbor as yourself." Mark 12:31.
I'm a Christian and I get pretty fed up with some of the intolerance I have seen portrayed "in the name of Jesus" on here.

The word tolerance is so overused and used in the wrong way. Tolerance simply means you allow things (beliefs for your question) to exist, endure, put up with. Jesus did that. Christians do that. However, we do not have to be accepting of other beliefs. Jesus never said other beliefs were correct. He actually corrected quite a few things. He had definite views of right and wrong. We do also and we can and should express them. That doesn't mean we should call people idiots or something, like a lot of atheists do, but we are supposed to correct and teach. There's nothing hateful about that.

While Christians are commanded to preach.
"Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching." 2 Timothy 4:2

We are also commanded to love (just as God is love). "A new commandment I give to you, that you love on another as I have loved you, that you also love one another." John 13:34

Some exhort out of love as they're supposed to, it still doesn't change the reaction. Many are offended by the truth of the Gospel.
But you are right, there are some who claim to be Christians but are not living a Godly life. This shouldn't be so. They get offended and take things personally then they get mad and counterattack their attacks with insults and bashing. You'll notice that throughout the four Gospels, Jesus didn't do such things, "For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: "Who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth";" 1 Peter 2:21,22

These Christians aren't following the Lord whole-heartedly.

"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love." 1 John 4:7,8
I hope that helped :)

Part of it is they've not bothered to read the section from the book of Matthew that tells us not to judge. I also think it is fear of what they don't understand. Since I'm Catholic Lite (1/3 less the guilt) I get told that we don't follow the Bible. What is rather ironic about that is the fact that the majority of our liturgy comes from the Bible as do many of the things we do (observe Lent), but of course none of them will take the time to look at our prayer book. Or listen when we try to explain. I think some of them just don't want to learn. Oh well, sorry for the whining. :D (((JMD)))

I am glad you clarified your statement. I personally do not have a problem with any other religion in terms of my feelings toward the individual. I have a very close friend whom I love that is Muslim. She and I share our faith with each other. My wifes grandmother is Catholic, I even went to mass this past weekend. We share with each other. As a matter of fact, before my wife became a Christian, she was Mormon and I researched as much as I could about it to give her that sense of my caring for her beliefs. I am a Christian and would not let any other religion or belief system shake my faith, but I can be tolerant of others and even love them.

A TRUE follower of Christ does not judge or bash anyone. I hate when so called Christians go on and on about issues that are just trivial!! They give the rest of us that are trying to live a good life, not judge and respect each other such a bad name. I really do believe that some Christians are a danger to themselves and others.....especially in a spiritual sense.

Because those bashing followers may proclaim themselves to be joined at His hip, but that doesn't mean they're always joined at the mind.
They can still fall astray again, and Jesus being Jesus, will help straighten them out again if they ask for His help.

16. Jesus said, "Perhaps people think that I have come to cast peace upon the world. They do not know that I have come to cast conflicts upon the earth: fire, sword, war.

For there will be five in a house: there'll be three against two and two against three, father against son and son against father, and they will stand alone."

***There will always be the ignorant bashing the meek. Jesus wanted to bring people closer to God, but he was aware that those whom followed him would be the target of ignorant power thirsty people. I don't think those whom followed Jesus bash other religions and belief's, rather it is those whom want dominion over other peoples belief's whom bash people with different opinions. If such people want to call themselves follower's of Jesus, they are only so in name.

Because "they" are not true followers of Christianity. They only think they are and will fight and feud trying to prove that they are. In reality all they do is show their true colors, which are ignorance, hatred and intolerance.

True Christianity teaches by love and kindness and not hatred. I feel for these people because they are misuided and need to be taught the true teachings of Jesus.

The biggest misconception of Jesus and His true followers is tha every one that says they are His is not. Not everyone that call on the name of Jesus belong to Him. Jesus is love. The Bible says that it is with love and kindness does He draw them. However, the Word of God does say that we are to hate sin. Not the person, per say, just the sin that has them bound. May God Bless U.
