It depends on the actual detail.

I have 27 and for me the outlining is always more uncomfortable. Sometimes I hardly even feel the shading being done.

I have only one tattoo and it is the size of maybe a a coffee cup (if that makes sense) and i had it outlined and filled the same day and it only took an hour. I guess it depends on the tattoo artist and how experienced they are. But if i had to guess with a larger tattoo i would have to say that depending on what type of shading (colors/shading/blending) and detail it is different...it will probably last a little longer than outlining.

I 5 tattoos all over my body. I personally think that the outline takes longer and is more painful than the shadn. It was just an irritating feeling when getting the color added, but it wasnt to bad

I guess it would determine how intricate the shading is. When I had my stars done in it took about an hour to do the color, and about an hour and 20 minutes to do the outline. It also hurt a LOT less to do the coloring. I bet it looks really great, hope you love it colored.

Depends, the shading can be much faster (gang needle) BUT this would be for a "block of red" or a "block of yellow".

If you are having subtle shading so it looks more realistic (sort of "airbrush effect" then you are looking at something that can take a LOT longer than the original outline.

Depends a bit on what you are after.

Opinions vary. For me, the outlines took longer and hurt more. Especially on my elbows and the ones on my collarbones. Hers a good rule: The less meat you got where you're getting tattooed, the more it hurts. Good Luck.
